Great place to have sushi. The quality and taste of the food are superb, have been there many times already, and never had an issue with anything, and they got a discount every day from 3-5Pm half price on several rolls.

We found this place online. Looked at the pictures and menu and gave it a try. It was an excellent choice. The food was fresh and delicious. This was our 3rd Japanese restaurant since moving toBakersfield . By far it was the best!

Quite a disappointment on their food. We ordered 2 rolls (different flavors) and calamari. The salmon roll (non creamy one) was so so bland and the fried calamari was overcooked (rubbery taste). We told our waiter about it and brought us another one, it did taste just a tad bit better but unfortunately won't order calamari again or salmon roll. I will give it a try on the creamy roll though, let's see 😋 😉. Also, we parked on the back st and ot smelled so bad like rotten milk, later I figured it was a smell like cow poop (fertilizer) whatever lol, the smell messed up my stomach though after having a lovely time in Kuma's nice lil atmosphere .

It says a lot when I like to stay budget and can still comfortably go here for a lunch break often.
The food quality has high standards, and the atmosphere is actually really nice for a downtown building. It still feels unique while keeping to neutral and abstract decorations.
Getting occasionally end-of-meal treats have always been so nice, especially with the occasional art pieces.
Definitely a quality experience that had me very surprised for how most other service restaurants behave today

I went with my parents for the first time here and we absolutely loved it! The staff and owner are very welcoming and friendly. We were served by Lucy M who was extremely sweet and helpful. My parents and I happened to go during happy hour which was cool so we got lots of food. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of our meal but we all enjoyed it so much!

The food here was amazing and such a great price! We came for the lunch special and it did not disappoint. I ordered the bulgogi bento box and it was a 10/10. We also got 2 rolls for just $15 and they were absolutely delicious. The decor and atmosphere are really cozy and comfortable, which made the experience even better. The cherry on top was being served fresh watermelon while waiting for the bill—such a thoughtful touch! Definitely coming back. Love it here!

Restaurantji Recommends
Right away when you walk in here, there is a feeling of hopefulness. It is very well put together. The seats are extremely comfortable and the entire presentation gives an vibe of a private openness.
The staff is very friendly. We were greeted by everybody in the restaurant when we walked in.
The food was very good. We had the miso, muscles, spicy rainbow roll, and cucumber roll. None of them disappointed.
After we were finished eating they gave us each a slice of watermelon.
I would highly recommend this place for a business lunch, family dinner, first date, etc.

One of the better sushi shops in Bakersfield. Good cuts of fish and not too much rice. They give you fresh fruit for free after every dine in meal. My wife and I would love to see an all you can eat option in the future!

This place was truly impressive, did something I've never done before and went back for lunch the very next day becausewe couldn'tstop talking about the food. The staff was friendly, the sushi was beyond amazing, the prices were reasonable. Especially considering the quality of the fish and clearly expert sushi chefs.
Some of the best rolls were; caterpillar, Mr. Gump, Red Bull, ex-girlfriend (if you like spicy), Naruto (no rice cucumber wrapped), Kuma's special, Into the fire (flaming at your table). The unagi was great, as were bento boxes. My boyfriends spicy chicken was better than my chicken katsu so if your unsure go with spicy chicken. The jalapeño bombs were pretty spicy but so good. I couldn't stop eating them.
I lived in long beach a long time and traveled to major cities a ton for work. I've eaten at a lot of top sushi places and didn't expect to get blown out of the water here. However, it might be tied for the best sushi I've ever had. The excellent service really put it over the top the whole staff was kind, personable, and efficient. Even the hostess and sushi chefs were talkative and enjoyable.
