If you dont drink beer there isnt a reason to go. The beer is about what you would expect from a micro brewery. They have the standard chalk board with handwritten beers like most micro breweries. The atmosphere is lacking. The locations are just large buildings that look like warehouses. Nothing really stands out with the decor. The food is way over priced and mediocre. They haven't changed the menu in so long most people get tired of the options.

My wife and I came to the Lengthwise at the Marketplace (Ming and Haggin Oaks)
*** to order food go to the bar to place order they also have menus up front.
Food: tasted great I got the Fish and Chips the fish tasted great with and without the tartar sauce that it came with they also had Malt Vinegar and lemon to go with it.
My wife has the chicken strips which she enjoyed as well she liked the breading and the chicken was moist.
I thought the server that took my food order at the bar was really nice she recommended both the Tri Tip which I will try next time and the fish and chips which I went with.
The atmosphere was nice as well, we decided to eat inside.
All in all would recommend and will try again.

Would that I could review the food, which looked good from their website. That coupled with the numerous great reviews here got me to give it a try when I was passing through Bakersfield on a road trip.

Unfortunately, I walked in at around 8:10 on a Wednesday evening, the patio had lots of people and inside were several tables with patrons. A server appeared to be helping one table when I walked in, so I sat down at the table next to that group.

I walked out at 8:30, having not once been approached nor even acknowledged for service. In fact, I never saw another server even walk remotely close to that area of the place (I did see one server -- perhaps, hard to tell for sure -- going to the patio). The bartender came out a few times to clear glasses from tables and chat with other patrons. Seemed to look right at me a few times, but never came over. I didn't see any other servers on the floor at all.

It's not like the place was completely packed, as I say the outdoor patio looked maybe 80% full, the inside maybe 30% full. No roaming servers? Nobody to notice a new (potential) customer?

I might have flagged down somebody to ask for help directly, but the fact that I didn't even see servers working the floor to assist the other patrons told me this was not going to be a good night for service.

I see lots of reviews raving about the service here... maybe it was just an off night, but based on what I saw I'm not inclined to try again if I'm ever in the area.

BTW my backup plan also had a wait, but there I was greeted at the door, and they took my name and explained immediately that it would be 10-15 minutes. All fine, that place was in fact quite busy and I understand -- no problem waiting as long as I know *they* know I'm there and will get to me!

There are 3 locations in town for Lengthwise Brewing Company. Being a local business, they have quite the following in town for their locally-brewed beers. The food is just OK. It’s standard bar pub food (burgers, appetizers, salads). But people come here for the excellent local beers and not the food. There are a lot of TVs and music going so there’s always something to look at. It’s a great place if you want to have a large gathering. When I was here, there were about three large parties of 15 or so. It’s very easy to move the tables around to your liking. The Marketplace location has a wonderful wraparound patio and is pet friendly. There is also a large outdoor patio at the location on District Boulevard, so I would imagine that one is pet friendly also. I dined in as a solo diner, aand my only complaint was that the service was not very friendly. I felt like I was bothering them to place my order. The gentleman behind the bar never smiled once and looks like he hates his job. The person who brought my food over never came back to check on me. Maybe if you sit at the bar the serving issue is not so noticeable.

A brewery with plenty of beer options and delicious pub food that pairs excellently.

The cheeseburger was perfect and delicious as you would expect. Large portion with plenty of fries. Surprisingly the calamari was also delicious. I highly recommend purchasing a flight of beers to sample the plenty of beer options they offer. The brews or not produce your but rather in a different location. Service was great and friendly. Plenty of seating areas both indoors and out. An easy-going vibe.
