Molcajetes are great. Guacamole is made fresh. Salsa is authentic. Language barrier didn’t stop anything. Suggestions google translate app. Not even slightly upscale. Low key! Warm temp in restaurant.
I spend a lot of time in Mexico. I even guest chef at a couple of places in southern Baja. I have a love of authentic Mexican seafood. It is very hard to find in the US and even harder in Bakersfield! Mariscos Las Islitas comes as close to the real deal as I have found. Over the years I've eaten here many times. I think I've only had 1 item that I didn't like and they took care of it. Very cool place that you could drop right in Baja and out would stand up against...
