Stopped into Milt’s for lunch on our drive to Orange County from Fresno. Service was friendly and attentive. Restaurant and restrooms were clean. My husband and son both had a burger that they enjoyed and I had the basque soup and side salad. I thought the burgers being $17.00 each were a little pricey but they both commented they were , “good”. We drank water and had one ice tea at the table and our bill was $58.00. Menu had a variety of breakfast items, lunch was a variety of salads or sandwiches and they had some dinner specials. Restaurant was busy with people who appeared to be locals. I would not hesitate to eat there again.

Excellent lunch en route to Fresno. The Pastrami Sandwich is “the bomb”, Homemade and oh so tasty! Melts in your mouth. A substantial portion. I substituted a garden salad for fries and the also homemade Italian dressing was great. Sizable too! My only complaint is the price of iced tea. $5.00 is excessive even if it is unlimited. There are many other items on the menu here which are deserving of attention as well. I will definitely return if I’m in the area again. Service was outstanding from Ana.

Cute, clean, friendly, and yummy. The pumpkin pancakes with pecan butter were amazing. Portions were large and the menu had lots of delicious diner options. Definitely recommend.

A brief visit to Bakersfield but a great typical US restaurant for foreign tourists! Great welcome and very well eaten!

Hi, I went here for breakfast but the woman up at the front who seats people was extremely rude to me. Long story short, I was about to put my name down. I had just got done drinking my coffee (from elsewhere), so I had my empty cups in my hand to throw away. I threw them in their trash can only to hear this women immediately snap at me that "that was not the trash can." I never have been treated so rudely by a hostess in my life. I immediately asked to speak to the manager who was very kind. The manager wanted to reassure me that this would not happen again. At that point, I had made up my mind not to eat there. Strangely, I was assured that this was a bus lady and would not have handled my food if I ate there. Nonetheless, I decided to go elsewhere. The manager did assure me that this "bus lady" was wrong because that was the garbage can. It is a blessing that I did not eat there because Smitten (just a few miles away) turned out to be such a great experience. Sorry but if you choose to treat your potential customers like trash, trust me they probably will walk themselves out to the door and drive to Smitten. I don't regret going to Smitten because they are top quality, friendly, clean, and buy high quality ingredients. The Greek eggs were phenomenal! If I could give Old River Grill zero stars I would. 😟

we ate dinner here on a Sunday evening, and it was nothing to brag about. The food was pretty good. The service was good and attentive, but the food service was very slow and on Sunday afternoon what they were famous for, pies, they were nearly out of. the place isn't cheap and if it's run by the owners of old river Grill they've got a lot of work to do. In fact, if they would bring the menu over from their store on Calloway at Hageman, they would do themselves a great duty. I don't think we will go back anytime soon

After its resurrection, this place has risen back to top tier diner status. The food was excellent and the Bloody Marys were superb. They even had pumpkin pancakes for Halloween. Definitely adding this to the Sunday brunch rotation! Next time I'll need to try their homemade salsa.

Kid-friendliness: They have highchairs available.

I have had two (2) visits here so far. On the 1st visit, my brother & and I both had the best breakfast we had eaten in some time. On the 2nd visit, it was a larger party. One brother ordered the chicken-fried steak, and another ordered an omelet. They both enjoyed their meal.
On both visits, I ordered the ham and eggs, and everything was great, except on the 2nd visit, the ham seemed to be severely dried out.
My wife's meal on the 2nd visit was the most problematic. She ordered the Reuben and albondigas soup. The bread was so dried out, and the soup was so flavorless that she sent it all back. My wife rarely does something like this..

My wife will never go back. I, on the other hand, may give them another try. When, and if that happens, I'll be sure to update this review.

Buddy and I cruising back to Orange Co. after a weekend in Fresno/Sequoia NP. We see the Mitz Diner sign and stop for breakfast. We got lucky because we had Sherri as our waitress!! She was so happy to see and greet us as she approached our table. Great attitude, told us all about the history of Mitz’s….just the best experience!!! Mitz’s Diner…..you have a keeper in Sherri!!
