Sooo, when this establishment was still under it’s own Soul Sister House of Soul that’s when it was at its absolute BEST! From the food, to the atmosphere & vibes. Since Noriega’s took over it I’ve been there twice. The first time I went the food was still good. However when I went today there a few things that were disappointing. For one, the peach cobbler.. no crispiness in the crust at all! It was literally soggy crust with peaches. It was more of a cobbler SOUP! Would not recommend. The Mac & cheese, I expected it to be baked & instead it was giving craft! My sister in law’s red snapper wasn’t crispy enough, so many parts of her skin of her fish was gooey & rubbery. My niece’s chicken tenders were very dry. The gravy on my white rice could’ve been seasoned more. I will say my shrimp, corn bread & Kool Aid was good though. Overall.. I feel like this soul food spot is missing the SOUL! The waitress is great though. Always welcoming which is very important.

Filet was charbroiled well. Had to saw it with great gusto. Food was delivered with large gaps of time in between so that none of it could be eaten together. Bread was stale. Friendly service.

I have never had a bad meal at a Basque restaurant, until now. The cabbage and carrots in the soup were cut in large pieces and not even cooked. The steak was overcooked and dry. The French fries looked like they were leftover from a previous meal and were brown. The bread was dry and old. I cannot make a positive comment on anything that was served. They need to make some serious changes. People in the parking lot were commenting on what a horrible meal. What a waste of $55.
Parking: When we arrived, we thought we had the wrong location. The parking lot was empty. No wonder. That should have been a red flag.

I had reserved their party room for a graduation party and we all had a great time! The service was amazing, the server was very kind, patient, and very attentive! The drinks at the bar were good and the size of the drinks are slightly bigger than most places for a good price! 10/10 for me!

Food was really really bad. Family seating, service was good. But the food was just horrible. Pickled tounge had no seasoning, salad was big leafs of lettuce with very little dressing, chicken was dry, French fries dry, oxtail stew was so fat and gummy, spaghetti was watery. Bottles of wine were unlabeled re-poured bottles. They need a lot of work, $50 per person. Go to Woolgrowers!!

No finer Basque dining experience. Family style pre-fix menus. Noriega’s has been a Bakersfield tradition since the 1890’s!
