We celebrated my birthday on taco Tuesday & we also participated in the line dancing after dinner in their brand new venue. It was rustic with a timeless, vintage flair. The line dancing was family friendly and so much fun. I had the steak salad. It was solid! Good size steak medallions in a super fresh bed of lettuce and assorted veggies including tomatoes and beets with home made blue cheese dressing. Our daughter who almost never finishes any of her meals consumed...
The last time I was there was in 1988! I was playing in a local band at the time, so we were there for the Sunday jam sessions. If I remember correctly, Ethel's claim to fame is being located halfway between the cemetery and the dump! (I should have bought one of her t-shirts!) The next time I am in Bakersfield, I will stop by since Trout's, the Blackboard, Tex's Barrell House, the Kern River Motor Inn, and the Rancho are all gone.
We tried the Patty Melt with fries and the buffalo burger with fries. The Patty Melt was a big patty but the buffalo burger seemed a little small but both tasted great and the buffalo was my favorite. Bigger buffalo burger would have made it PERFECT!!

The price is good it was $38.97 for two meals with sodas for lunch.

Plenty of parking.
