Too sweet for original Korean taste. Owner tried to sell $4.50 packed kimchi when asked few pieces to take along with the leftovers. Spent over $200 for group of 4 people. Surly they could add few pieces of kimchi for service. Disappointed.

We came to Seoul Shikdang to celebrate my friend’s birthday, and the experience went way above and beyond anything we expected.
First off, the staff was incredible. I brought a cake with us, and they were generous enough to store it in the back kitchen. When it was time to sing happy birthday, they surprised us by bringing the cake out with a candle, plates, forks, and even a knife to cut it. On top of that, they joined in singing happy birthday with us. It was such a thoughtful, kind gesture—something they absolutely didn’t have to do, but chose to anyway. That alone made the night unforgettable.
Now the food 🔥
• Bulgogi Hot Stone – absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and full of flavor
• Spicy Braised Beef Short Rib (with added cheese) – hands down the best item on the menu
• Sweet & Spicy Gangjung Wings – crunchy, saucy, and packed with amazing flavor
• Marinated Dumplings – solid and flavorful
• Pork Curry Katsu – comforting, crispy, and satisfying
Between the incredible food, warm hospitality, and the genuine care they showed during our celebration, Seoul Shikdang truly stood out. Highly recommend for birthdays, special occasions, or honestly just a great Korean meal. We’ll definitely be back.

I really wanted to like this place, but it fell a bit short for me. The flavors were okay, but they didn’t feel very authentic compared to other Korean spots I’ve had. One major disappointment was the beef bulgogi being served without lettuce. Not having lettuce wraps takes away a big part of the traditional experience, and it really changes how the dish is meant to be eaten.
I later looked up this restaurant and learned this is a franchise, so they aren’t able to adjust or customize their setup. It’s still disappointing as a customer expecting a more traditional meal.
We ended up going to try this place out due to the reviews. It was nothing like we expected. It took a good amount of time for someone to even get our drink orders. We saw a guy server that would walk around asking all the tables if they were ok or needed something but continued to skip our table. We finally got our food, I got the brisket Tteobokki. There was barely any brisket, this dish is $32 and I got maybe 5 pieces. Thankfully the server said I’m bringing you more brisket (possibly cuz I made a face, I was shook). I had also ordered a side of rice and that never came, until I was able to get a hold of our server half way in and asked for it. Finally the girl server came and dropped off the extra “brisket” that was literally nothing but the fat of brisket. I couldn’t even eat it. We finally didn’t need anything else and that’s when we started to get asked if we needed anything. I also never got a refill on my ice tea. I was hoping I was gonna love this place. It was just not the experience I was hoping to get. Honestly for me it wasn’t worth it, I would not return.

Went twice to Seoul Shikdang! This place is very cozy and authentic. I got the beef bulgogi both times and my husband got the beef brisket. Very generous portions and love the side dishes that come as well. Will continue to visit for sure.
The second time though, my beef bulgogi on hot stone was I guess cooked for a bit longer than normal because the beef and rice were stuck to the stone with some charring. I don’t mind, it just affected the taste a bit. Will be back for a third time though to update.

The food was great. I had the bimbimbap with bulgogi added. We also got the marinated dumplings. My cousin got the brisket hot stone, which I would have instead if I went back, though that's from personal preference. I probably wouldn't add the bulgogi again if I went it's not enough to notice it too much when you eat everything together. The marinated dumplings were amazing and probably my favorite part of the meal.
The service was good except for the timing on the food. My cousin was almost done eating by the time I got my meal. The staff was nice and I didn't have complaints there, but such a long difference in food coming out was kind of annoying.
The atmosphere was very neat and the restaurant was decorated nicely.

I have been here a lot in the past 6 months and love everything there. I have tried almost everything on the menu and have not been disappointed once. The galbi is a must. If you are cold get the beef spare rib soup. The curry and catsu is warm and flavorful. You can tell they clean the oil they fry with because everything taste clean. I have tasted everything so far except the kimchi pancakes and it has all been great. It is pricy, but great food is going to be. If you haven't been please go. I can't recommend enough

Seoul Shikdang instantly took me back to the flavors I experienced as a young Marine at Camp Mujuk in the early 1990's( Dang im old...I just said that out loud) So, let's be clear. I didn't bother finding out the actual name of these items on the menu.So I will explain as much as I can.
THE GRUB : When the food hit the table—crisp and spicy kimchi, cucumber salad, and crunchy radish —the apps thet came with the chicken tasted like it came straight from a mom‑and‑pop spot just outside the gates. The Korean fried chicken was crispy on the outside, moist inside, then the braised short ribs arrived sizzling, with potatoes and onions in a slightly sweet, garlicy, savory sauce that soaked perfectly into the steamed rice and on the korean fried chicken, and eveything else it touched. What really stands out is how flavorful yet clean everything tastes; nothing is oversalted or greasy, just layered with chili, garlic, and sesame the way I needed it to be, I cant eat dessert on a full stomach..
THE PLACE : The cozy dining room and attentive staff I cant remember his name but he asked me if it was my first time and I'd tell them no.I had korean food in South Korea in the early 90s, and he then suggested everything we ordered,we did not regret anything he suggested. All of the suggestions were amazing & made the place feel like a small slice of Korea tucked into Bakersfield, and it is easily worth a drive across town for anyone craving truly authentic Korean soul food. On a different note, if you know somebody that likes korean food. Take them there for lunch, i ami'm definitely not a korean food connoisseur, but this is what I believe, is an Authentic Korean Restaurant. If anybody out there has had this food here, let me know what you think. Also, if you have any other korean food suggestions that won't be disappointing.I would like to try those.Let me know.

This place really surprised me. A little bit on the pricey side, but surely it's worth it. The food was amazing, from the Soju strawberry drink to the hot stone pork with the side dishes of spicy cucumbers and kimchi and fish cakes, which you can always ask for more, helps accompany the dishes quite good and gives a nice kick to it.
Service was good, but the food definitely does the trick, quite surprised by it, definitely going back for more.
