Last week on Wednesday evening December 17,2025 Me and my mom went into to ask about placing a order for cupcakes for a event I didnt get the lady name but she mentioned that if we called the day before the event which we called today December 22,2025 and the lady on the phone said they cant take anymore orders after we were told we can The lady mentioned it to other people that were also inside at the time for orders Very unprofessional staffed to say something and dont hold to what you say... its unfortunate but will have to take out business elsewhere...

Should be noted that orders over $50 requires a deposit. A great place for fresh baked items and specialty items for the important events in your life. sugar free items such as cakes and pies are available when preordered by phone. A great option for the diabetic or sugar challenged person in your family or friends circle.

All the baked goods are fantastic however Lori in the front is just plain rude, she always get the order wrong and talks back also the atmosphere could use updating Never the less I do love me a good smiths !

I was born and raised in Bakersfield, and Smith’s bakery is a place I will always remember fondly. When I visit, I always find time to stop and take goodies back to Nevada. And now my kids even do the same. They say NOTHING lasts forever, but everyone should hope Smith’s Bakery does!

Absolutely the best traditional bakery in the region . I now my drive 80 miles to get there but continue to shop there. I always go to their original site on Union. I rated the atmosphere high because it is what I want when I go to a bakery . Good service in a place filled with history . I go there for their amazing sugar cookies. I especially like the cookies they do for holidays and the seasons. Their Flying Pig cookies were perfect for many meetings!

Wonderful bit of old school Bakersfield that I appreciate and enjoy. They're not cheap but their cookies are great. The cupcakes are good as well if not limited in what they offer up for sale. Lots of things need to be ordered and aren't just regularly stocked in the case. All that said, I am addicted to their sugar cookies and the staff are all just nice people to be around.

As good as it's always been. A Bakersfield staple. Anyone who grew up here ate their smiley face cookies at least once as a child. Way better than Porto's with friendly employees and without the ridiculous line.
I was born & raised in good ol’ Bakersfield, every local there knows this bakery is a STAPLE to our town! This place holds a special place in my and my family’s hearts. This is where we came for “Donut Friday’s” when my girls were little and going to elementary. It was a thing we did and looked forward to every Friday. Years passed and we held that tradition but it hasn’t been the same since we’ve moved. Yet, when we visit family and get a chance to visit home, we always stop here! Best little donut bakery in town! We love this place! 10/10!!
