Unfortunately, the experience didn’t meet expectations. Nigiris did not taste fresh at all. The yellowtail nigiri had a strong fishy taste—so much that it was almost inedible. The nigiris also didn’t come with wasabi nor ginger. I ended up gulping some beer just to mask the taste and hopefully kill any bacteria (even though I know that’s not how it works scientifically).
It seems that any rolls wrapped in cucumber (e.g., the Tropical Roll) don’t include rice, which wasn’t clearly stated on the menu and should be clarified. While the rolls were beautifully put together, they were difficult to pick up with chopsticks since there’s no rice to hold everything together.
Service was very slow. The waitress was polite but seemed new—she looked surprised and a bit confused when I asked for utensils to eat the sushi that had just been served.
Overall, the food quality didn’t justify the high prices. Hope the restaurant can improve.

This place is a good choice if you're visiting near stores, just like me. Even though I live far, it's still a good option. I got my kids a teriyaki bowl, and they devoured it all! We also got a California roll, which was okay, but the yakisoba was awesome. I wasn't crazy about the pork ramen, but it was still good. The service is fantastic. Our server was super nice and kept checking on us. The food comes out fast. The place is clean, and the music is nice. They even have outdoor seating.

This place is hand down my favorite place to get sushi in Bakersfield. I’ve been coming here for years and I’ve tried to branch out and try other places but nowhere else compares to Sushiko. The food and service are exceptional every single time.

We found this on our search for sushi in Bakersfield and were very happy with this find...a diamond in the rough! We enjoyed the fresh wasabi with our spicy tuna rolls, unagi bowl, and bento boxes. Arigatoo gozaimasu! We will return.

This is based on my personal experience working here. Any tips given to the waiter is forcibly split 50-50 with the sushi chef. When I was here, the sushi chef was often an acting manager. The sushi chef was receiving 100% of the tips given directly to him +50% of all other tips received by all other servers. His tips did not enter the general tip pool. There was no tip pool. I had hundreds of dollars stolen to me during my time here. Please consider tipping in cash to ensure that your server gets what is rightfully theirs, as that is the only kind of tip that management cannot forcibly take.
Just off the beaten path of coffee road is this humble and quaint sushi restaurant.
The inside is very clean and well kept. The only reason I gave it three stars, is because it seemed as though the designer could not decide between a Victorian chandelier-esque vibe and industrial. It doesn't really take away from the experience though .
With blacked out windows, The feel inside the restaurant is very intimate. I almost forgot that it was broad daylight when I ate there.
The sushi is on point here. Very well prepared and the presentation was nice. The waitress was very friendly. The sushi chef as well.
The price is on the moderate high side for their specialty rolls. However, if you're in for a quick California roll or something basic like that, at just under $7 a roll, the price can't be beat for the quality.
I will be going here again. And, anybody who enjoys sushi should as well.
