I ordered sweet n sour chicken. Everything was swimming in sauce (which is ok if you like runny sauce). What little chicken I had was tough and dry and half the vegetables tasted like wax. The rice was the star of the show right next to the thai tea.

The only good food in this place is the honey rosted duck. They should just focus on the duck and nothing else because all the other food tastes bad.

Thai House will always hold a special place for me — they’re the reason I first fell in love with Thai cuisine. Over 14 years ago, on a simple work lunch break, a friend suggested this spot, and I was hooked instantly. Week after week, I’d return, always blown away by the bold flavors and comforting recipes.

Even after years of moving away and coming back, Thai House has remained a touchstone for me. Their recipes never lose their flavor, and the warmth of the family who owns it makes every visit feel like coming home. They’ve always greeted me with authentic kindness, no matter how long it’s been since my last visit.

They say you never forget your first — and for me, Thai House will always be that first unforgettable taste of Thai cuisine in Bakersfield. Highly recommended every single time.

Thai House Restaurant in Bakersfield is one of those low-key gems that gets everything right. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted by a cozy, welcoming vibe with traditional Thai decor that gives the space an authentic touch.

The food is the real star here. I tried the pineapple fried rice and the red curry, and both were packed with flavor, fresh ingredients, and just the right amount of heat. The presentation was beautiful—colorful, vibrant, and inviting. Portions are generous for the price, which sits comfortably in the $20-$30 range.

Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It’s not a fancy place, but it’s clean, comfortable, and clearly loved by locals.

If you’re looking for flavorful Thai food in a modest, laid-back setting, Thai House is definitely worth the visit. Great for dine-in or takeout, especially when you’re craving comfort food with bold flavor.

I've been coming here with my family for many years. They've been under the same ownership for at least 15+ years and the service and food has ALWAYS been consistently exceptional!
We don't feel like we're eating at a restaurant when we eat here, we feel like we're visiting family!
Love, Love, Love Thai House!!!

Might have just eaten the best value lunch in the whole of CA! $11 for a red curry with side soup and salad. Veggies bright and fresh, a hint of Thai basil... absolutely delicious. Charming service, too.

I was in Bangkok two days ago and loved the food! Took my husband out to Thai House tonight and it was so incredibly good. Chicken Satay for a starter, then green curry with chicken, pad Thai with shrimp and cashew chicken. All delicious! We were both stuffed and needed to-go boxes, but couldn’t leave without trying the mango sticky rice. Although the mangos are different here, it was still very good! We will definitely be coming back.
