We were a party of 12 from our dental office, and while the service was generally attentive and the staff polite, the experience left a lot to be desired — especially considering our total bill was around $500.
While the chef was cooking at our table, we noticed a bug near the vegetables. It was unclear whether it came from the food itself or from the vent above, but either way, it raised serious hygiene concerns.
Even more disappointing was what happened during one of the chef’s tricks. When I was unexpectedly asked to catch a bowl of rice and missed, the chef picked up the same rice that had fallen onto the countertop and served it to me. I was genuinely shocked but didn’t want to cause a scene in front of my colleagues, so I stayed quiet at the moment. However, it was extremely inappropriate and unsanitary for food that had touched the counter to be served to a guest.
At this price point and setting, I expected far higher standards of cleanliness and professionalism. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and ensures better hygiene practices and guest respect going forward.

We had dinner tonight and the cook with long braided hair served my son husband and I a small portion of chicken and then proceeded to serve the other guests from our portions. We constantly have dinner here and it’s the first time we are served a poor serving.

Celebrated my nephew’s birthday here tonight, the hibachi chef was great, Steak a bit overcooked and scallop was okay. The server though never once had a smile on her face, just unhappy, we also felt rushed, left before 9 PM when they close at 9:30 PM, don’t know if I’d come back here.

I've always been a fan of teppanyaki, and Tokyo Garden never disappoints! Always a good show! The food here is top notch! I almost never drink sake, but I ALMOST ordered some sake just to show our chef some love. I got u next time bro! (He had to settle for a good tip last visit)

Great food and service. Been here several times. I only wish they had a full bar. They only serve beer and wine. They do have sake as well. Staff are always friendly.
Amazing Teppanyaki and great sushi!

Usually like this place. It has odd hours but we drove by and the door was open and someone was eating inside. So we parked and sat down, two employees said nothing then and lady came out and said they were closed. What restaurant closes at 2pm? Watch out for the crazy hours.
Small location, they were not taking seating at the grill area, we sat at a table and ordered. People at grill area were loud (maybe a little bit of a wall or barrier would help). Serving was smaller then other places like this I've been to but the sushi was really good.
Lunch with friends we had Teppanyaki, the show was great, the food was tasty. Definitely going back.
Best Tepanyaki in Bakersfield. Staff is very attentive.
Japanese ambiance and very good food. It's a popular place. I little pricey but worth it in my opinion. They do a lot of birthday Tepenyaki grill dinners. Every time I go there it's somebody's birthday.
