My friend and I came to Solvang on a weekend trip. We found recommended places online. Bob's was one of them.
We went in there as first timers. The register woman seemed annoyed at us before we got to the counter, because of that impression I apologized and said we'd never been there and didnt know the routine. I ordered the caprese sandwich. First she stared blankly at me, then she repeated my order pronouncing it differently (correctly, i'm assuming?) Then she told me they didn't have it.
Soon long story short, we got a turkey sandwich to split. It was on the hardest and toughest bread is out of lowly towners have ever had. We ate some of the turkey and left.
The register woman was pretentious, and unfriendly to us. If we go back to Solvang we'll definitely skip it here. We're also going to find the recommendation post and down vote it.

If you decide to go please dont forget to put on airs. The register woman might be nicer to you. Also, I guess its ca-pray-say. Please dont get it wrong like me. Its not ca-pree-sea. Very uncouth of me.

The best baked goods I may have ever eaten…. They’ve mastered the dense-dough but crispy outer with almost everything. Must try, yes a little more expensive but 100% worth the baking mastery.

We were excited for a relaxing breakfast during our stay at The Ballard Inn and walked across the street to Bob’s Well Bread at The Ballard Store. The café looked inviting, and there was a clear sign asking customers to wait to be served. However, the person behind the counter immediately and rudely ordered us to stay behind the sign, even though I was simply taking a moment to snap a photo for a potential review. When he raised his voice a second time, it felt unnecessarily hostile. Disappointed by the tone, we chose to leave and found a much more welcoming spot in Solvang. A little hospitality would have gone a long way.

Sitting outside is uncomfortable due to the stark white paint on the building. It’s blinding. Croissant was decent. Staff seemed uninterested

The best vanilla latte and croissant I’ve had in years.

We live around the corner from Bob's Ballard. My wife is addicted to their lattes, which is the only reason we go in. Cesar is a joy. He always greets her with a smile and a hug. Unfortunately the owner, Bob, wakes up on the wrong side of the bed daily. He's just not a friendly person. As a matter of fact... he's just mean!!

Love Bobs Well when I’m visiting in the area. Lovely spot, terrific bread and pastries. My only feedback the “pot of tea” is actually 1 tea bag with a pot of hot water. it’s weak. Loose leaf tea in a pot done properly would be a big improvement Bob! :)

I've been to Bob's more times than I’d like to admit and have tried nearly everything on the menu. The food is hit or miss—sometimes great, other times a letdown. The avocado toast is often served on rock-hard bread, and the egg sandwich comes on an exceptionally thick, dense English muffin. Worst of all, the sausage on the breakfast sandy is so ridiculously salty, and apparently, that’s how they intend it to be. I’ve had it three times, and it’s always the same.

As for the specials, I've tried about five different sandwiches, and the Italian was by far the best.

Regarding the staff, I’ve read some mixed reviews, but I’ve only been helped by Bob once in my 20 visits, and it was an entirely fine experience. However, the wait times for food are absurd, and it’s not just on busy days. I have to assume they’re making the bread from scratch for every order, it takes that long.

The coffee is decent, and I actually enjoy it.

I have been here several times and always anticipate to wait for my lunch. But, I enjoy their chopped salad so I convince my husband from time to time to grab lunch here. Today, they messed up my order- along with messing up giving change to the woman ahead of me who had given a $100 bill to pay for her lunch. After waiting 20 min for my salad and my husband’s sandwich (no surprises there), and then driving home, I was disappointed to find out the person who rang our order didn’t listen carefully to me either. I called prior to posting this review to alert them of the mistake, and all the woman said was “I’m sorry.” No suggestion of how to fix the situation, not even a mention of making sure the staff will make an effort to listen next time. Or have one of the 5 people standing around chit-chatting help train the person on the register if that was what was needed. It really is tough being heard these days with this generation I guess.

We have been coming to the Ballard Bob’s for years and it only continues to improve. The people who work at Bob’s are delightful and every dish continues to impress. And those toasted English muffins with butter and jam…!

Not worth it, plus the man with the glasses who takes your order was not welcoming at all, nor friendly.

Had a little higher expectations for the food. Croissant was super dry. Place is lovely though.

Have you ever seen the Seinfeld episode about the soup place. Ya. Very strict on the flow, poor design but good bread.
