EL AJI PERUANO Reviews
Small and intimate location (no more than 33 i think it's what i saw as capacity) so service is great. The food is cooked as ordered. This is one of the best Peruvian places I've eaten in the IE. Saltado was not salty and had just the right seasoning and the Aji is delicious like always (s had no leftovers). Alfajores for desert was perfect -not very sweet and it had just the right amount of caramel filling. Will be back again.
Extensive menu, although not all dishes may be available due to unique items. All items are freshly made upon ordering. The Caldo de Mote is a white “menudo” and comes with a special sauce to add for your desired amount of spice. An unexpected treasure for Banning to have and was glad I stopped for lunch. Service was family friendly. If you’re tired of Mexican cuisine, try this Peruvian gem. You won’t be disappointed, even though you won’t find tortillas...read full review
Fresh, delicious Peruvian food located in the heart of Banning, CA. Banning is small and quaint, however, along with that comes limited restaurant choices. Finding this gem was truly a delight. Reasonable prices and adequate portion size. My husband and I will definitely patronize again.

EL AJI PERUANO is a small, cozy Peruvian restaurant located in Banning that offers delicious and authentic Peruvian dishes. Despite its humble, hole-in-the-wall vibe with only a few tables, the restaurant impresses with its flavorful food and friendly service. Visitors often find the selection appealing, with popular dishes like lomo saltado, arroz con pollo, aguadito de pollo, tallarin saltado, and empanadas. The aguadito de pollo, a simple chicken soup with cilantro that tastes similar to chicken congee and has a beautiful green color, is especially loved for its comforting and humble flavor. The arroz con pollo features phenomenal green cilantro rice, which many find so tasty they want to enjoy it repeatedly, despite dietary concerns. Tallarin saltado, reminiscent of a tangy chow mein, and the empanadas served with a green, slightly spicy sauce are also highly recommended. The yellow sauce, which resembles mayo, and the green sauce with a kick, complement the empanadas perfectly and add to the flavorful experience. The restaurant’s chef shares that many recipes are traditional family recipes, adding a personal touch to the meals. While the ambiance may not be remarkable, the excellent food and attentive service more than make up for it, with reviewers praising the quality of dishes like arroz con pollo and the best flan they’ve ever had. Overall, EL AJI PERUANO is considered a hidden gem that surpasses other Peruvian options in the area and is highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic, comforting Peruvian cuisine. It is a place that many plan to visit regularly and suggest to friends and family.
