This was the worst food I have ever tasted. The burger was downright nasty and the pie was worse. The people working were also downright rude. Way too expensive and not worth the drive up that road you have to drive to get there. Apparently certain menu items are only available on certain days but no where does it say that so they acted like we were stupid for asking for an item that wasn’t being served that day.

Jones Store is a step back in time. This is a very cool rustic area up in the mountains. We made a special drive there for lunch and we were not disappointed. The burgers were delicious. The bread made the sandwich. I don't know for sure how they make it but it was some of the best bread on a burger I've ever had. I will say it probably wasn't the most healthy, but once in awhile we deserve a treat. A bag of chips came with a burger and they were your standard potato chips. You pick your soda or beer out of the old time propane refrigerators. I said that right. You don't see propane refrigerators everyday. We chose to eat outside and the views were awesome. It didn't take very long at all for our meals to be delivered to our table. After we got done with the burgers we decided to try the pie and that was pretty funny. I asked what type of pies they had and they said two types pie and no pie. They couldn't tell us what type of pie it was but they said it was good pie. We decided to try one and it came in a bowl. It had ice cream on top of it and whipped topping. The pie was good, although we didn't know for sure what type it was. It was either apple or possibly pear but the texture we couldn't really figure out. I guess only they know for sure. Overall, it was a great experience and a pleasant time with friends. We went on August 14th wearing t-shirts and shorts. In the shade. It was a little bit too cool and in the sun a little bright and warm. At a high altitude it can sometimes be cooler than what you would expect. Be prepared. Also, for all of you who are stuck on your telephones you will not have cell reception. Enjoy the moment! The electronic world can wait.

Great food, prickily service, just like we like it! Excellent tuna sandwich, excellent burgers, excellent pie ala mode! The drive up is just beautiful- the meadow is beautiful- the bathroom was in need of a cleaning. We will be back!

Went at the end of May and won't be open for a few weeks. Nice people and let us walk around but they closed even though Google shows open they aren't.

The Jones Store has been around since the 1880s and is still going strong. This was a must-stop when I attended sleep away camp down in Bass Lake as a kid! Summer after Summer, it was one of the highlights of the campers and holds a special place of true nostalgia for me. The burger and whatever pies were available that day always seemed to taste that much better because it was made by, who we called Mrs. Jones (although I don't know if that was her actual name). It may have taken her 5 minutes to cook, it may have taken an hour, but one thing you do not do is complain, you respect her at all costs and enjoy where you are. Drinks were in vintage refrigerators still running in prime condition. Ahhhh as I write this a sense of warmth and comfort rushes over me, such great memories. Will definitely return one day before my time on this earth runs out, it is a must.

I had a tuna sandwich, and my husband had the tri tip sandwich and a piece of apple pie with vanilla ice cream. The tuna sandwich was like a tuna melt except it also had avocado and grilled onions. It was huge, and the best tuna melt or sandwich I have ever had. My husband said that his tri tip sandwich was one of the best ever. The pie and ice cream was huge, and delicious, definitely enough for two. Don't go if you are on a diet. Rustic setting for sure. We sat outside and looked at the mountains in the background.

Never disappointed with the amazing burgers. Sun’s and I love chit chatting with Dee Dee and John while enjoying where we live and grew up.

This is a honest review from someone who has frequented Jones Store yearly since 2011. The Tri-Tip sandwich I had there on 7/17/24 was very good. Big portion not skimpy. Only thing is "don't" get it with their orange cheese because it greatly devalues the taste. Let's be honest how many restaurants do you know in California that serve a tri-tip sandwich with cheese on it not many because those flavors don't blend well do you put cheese on your steak ? Anyways without the cheese it's a great sandwich ?. Just needs tomatoes though instead of cheese. Now their hamburgers are terrible definitely frozen don't waste your $15.00 - pay $3.00 more & order the Tri Tip. Now the worse tasting item on their menu is 100% their pie. Oddly enough they call their pie famous & all this other stuff & that couldn't be farther from the truth. Seriously. Like it's Ice Cream, lots of soggy whipped cream, and a few pieces of sour old blackberries, old tasting chunks of a peach, and a few discolored strawberries like not even remotely fresh. The crust was good though. I'm not here to hurt feelings I'm just being honest. It's one thing when you have a bad tasting pie it's another thing when you claim to have a famous best tasting pie. And by the way they never tell you what the pie is even when you order it so you're paying like $10 and they won't tell you what it is they just called mystery pie I do not like that I would like to know what I'm paying for. Once our pie came out and I realized it was more of a fruit salad with ice cream and whipped cream on it of course we couldn't get a refund at that point so definitely deceptive advertising. I have noticed from like 2019 to 2023 the food was definitely lower in quality & smaller in portions. During that time they were always conveniently out of tri-tip even if you got there right when they opened. As a business owner myself in nearby Fresno the way I saw that conveniently out of tri-tip method was they weren't making a lot of money when they were selling tri-tip sandwiches due to the cost of the tri-tip however they were buying Frozen burger patties and selling those for $15 a piece and that's where they were making their money. This year they actually had tri-tip for the first time in 5 years and it tasted good and it was worth the $18 that's why they get one star and not zero. But they still practice deceptive advertising with their bad tasting pies and they're frozen burger patties on a propane grill not barbecued. Bring your own drinks as they charge $3 for a can of soda .
* I recommend visiting this place if your in need of a good tri-tip sandwich and a great view but I would not order anything else off the menu unless you plan on being greatly disappointed.

This place is wonderful. Delicious food, wonderful owners, and rich history without being a typical tourist trap. Plus they have dogs. I hope this place stays just as it is forever.
