Came here tonight and had been a huge fan of one of the other locations and I can whole-heartedly say I was utterly disappointed with the quality of the food and service at this location. Our meals were slightly cold & had a severely funny taste to the items on both of our plates. I'm not sure if recipes have changed or if it's a direct reflection on management, but I will not be returning or recommending based on the mediocre meals we could barely stomach.

Ordered a waffle and that fell apart as you picked it up. It would crumble as you touched it. I wish I had taken a video. My son ate it (because he's 7 and doesn't know better) and I felt so bad. I made him stop eating it after a few bites. He then got home and said his stomach hurt. It seemed that it was frozen and they defrosted it a year later. Like omg it was so bad. I was gonna say something but the waiter was so nice I just let it go. They definitely didn't give us a fresh waffle. So sad. The restaurant was empty, but even so they should make fresh food. We ordered other teams and I was also unsatisfactory.

If I spend almost $200 pls double bag my food. Pls don't stack heavy items on top of our desserts to wear it smashes the pudding and gets all over the inside of the bag...pls cook that chicken all the way thru..we couldn't eat it because it was pink..to those reading this AVOID the cornbread also..It was horrible.

Good bbq and the margaritas were great too, both times I've visited they were consistent and the greens are a must try

Open outdoor patio was on the cool side bordering unpleasant. No heaters in sight. Brunch menu today - settled on brisket breakfast tacos and chicken & waffles. Brisket tacos won!

I am glad we were able to have brunch at JR's today; first time after a year, due to COVID. We did however have an issue; the fried chicken was under cooked. The only portion of the entree that was consumed was the biscuit and a portion of the slaw before losing an appetite. Our server apologized, buy proceeded to give only a 50% discount for that entree. There was no discussion if we wanted a replacement order or a different entree. JR's was a weekly stop for our family pre-COVID, but the poor customer service has us re-thinking that loyalty.

As soon as I heard Los Angeles opened up we went straight to Steelcraft and they weren't open yet ,luckily there's this great restaurant right across the street called Johnny Rebs'. I've always wanted to go to it but I don't eat meat. Luckily I had a handful of friends with me Love a good barbecue ! It is a beautiful restaurant we had great service and the food was so good. It was the perfect day for a barbecue. Five star barbecue experience for Bellflower .Dogs are welcomed

Always been a big fan of Johnny Reb's used to always go in for brunch with my mom. First time we ordered during this pandemic- got the fried catfish special and wow so delicious! The fish was fried perfectly, the coleslaw fresh, and fries nice and warm. We decided to save the biscuits for breakfast better but still glad it came with the meal. Next we want to get the fried chicken special, sad they no longer have my peanut butter pie though!

Ordered food through DoorDash. I remember having work events catered from the Long Beach location. I ordered the family meal, 2 racks of ribs, mac & cheese, baked beans, asked to substitute the biscuits for corn bread, key lime pie & banana pudding. I also got the hush puppies. Instead of the baked beans, I got mashed potato & gravy. Instead of key lime pie, i got an apple pie. It would of been fine... if any of it tasted good. Everything (EVERYTHING) except the ribs were bland. The ribs were just 'okay'. Probably cus it was drowned in bbq sauce. What a waste of $71.xx (before delivery charge). I just stopped eating & dumped the rest of my food in the trash. I WILL NEVER EAT THEIR FOOD AGAIN! I DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone to order their nasty food.

The food wasn’t great! Mac and cheese was bland... too much vinegar in the greens and ribs were unseasoned and not fully cooked. I was truly dissatisfied and disappointed because the food used to be awesome.

Their sides are okay. A bit on the bland side - this goes for the mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, and coleslaw. I enjoyed the meats, especially the beef brisket, pork ribs, and pulled pork. I could have skipped the hot links. The bbq sauce itself was yummy, but I'm glad they didn't over sauce everything so I could actually taste the meat. Everything was well cooked, juicy, and super tender. The only downside to my Uber eats order was that I chose a peach cobbler for dessert, but was delivered banana pudding. They could have at least given me two puddings since they were doing a 2 for 1 promo, or just refunded the dessert.

We are from the South. My husband was born and raised and I was raised from a young age, and we are always looking for great southern and Caribbean eateries on the West coast. (There are much more on the east coast.) Some of this might be a matter of preference, but some critiques might be more universal. We ordered a variety of food, so we will provide feedback on each. - Cornbread- my preference is for a sweet, moist cornbread. Theirs was on the dry side/grainy side and savory. -Baked Beans - again, my preference airs on the honey side. Theirs was more savory yet bland and used a variety of different beans that were on the tough side. -Collard greens- probably the worst greens I've ever had. Flavor and texture were off. Bland. -Mashed Potatoes and gravy- they were good. Decent texture on mash and the gravy was good. -Biscuits- dry and disappointing. - Fried Chicken - decent, I would eat it again. I wish there were a little more seasoning, but the kids and husband enjoyed it. This might be because we don't cook fried chicken at home unless grandma is in town, and they miss it dearly. - Baby Back Ribs 12 Bones - Whew... It was bad. The seasoning was baked on and didn't penetrate. They were nowhere near tender, and they overcompensated with sauce. Get it on the side if you don't like your ribs smothered in BBQ sauce. It was very disappointing. - Fried Chicken Sandwich - the husband, loved it; I did not taste, so I'll take his word for it. Plenty of fries on the side. - Sweet Tea- whew, it was mediocre. -Lemonade- decent -Fried Okra- solid, I wish they offered a dipping sauce; I like a spicy aioli when utilizing as less of a side and more of an appetizer. Banana Pudding- avoid. It was literally just pudding with some crumbled wafers on top. It was a crime against southern banana pudding. I was angry and disturbed. Who does that? This is literally all it is. Not even layered. A southern banana pudding atrocity for anyone who loves and craves banana pudding. No fresh bananas. No whipped cream. There is no way that pudding was freshly made. Such a simple easy to slay dessert with even the mildest of effort and they said: nawl. Mac & Cheese: It was nasty. Just flavorless with a weird texture. I don't think I would return unless I wanted some fried okra and didn't feel like cooking it. The husband would do the fried chicken again. I'll stick to my favorite rib place in LA. I tried this place because it was closer to home.

Placed my order online, it did not give me the option to pay online, but said my order would be ready in 15 min. So I tried calling and it was busy. So I went to the restaurant 30 min later (figuring there was no way my food- I ordered $200 worth of food- would all be ready in 15 min. When I walked in I was greeted and the the first thing I said was Im pretty sure your phone is off the hook, sure enough right there in front of me was the phone off the hook. I told the lady that was pretty frustrating, Ive been calling trying to verify my order, and she asked me what the name was for the order. When I told her the name, she replies, we just put your food out- right before you walked in. I then asked if I could add some hushpuppies to my order- since we couldnt find them on the online menu. I asked how long it would take (remember the $200 worth of food now sitting in my car getting cold by the min) and she says oh just a few min. Well 20 min later I am finally in my car headed home to eat my now cold food. My fault for adding the hush puppies. Lesson learned. Masks were not proplerly being worn. I watched the manager walk in with customer drinks and oull his mask down while he refilled the drinks and then put it back on when he walked away....
