I didn't know what to expect stepping into East Meets West Bowls -- but the name matches the menu to a T! Alpa is a fantastic host, providing great service. The restaurant space is very homey, and truthfully, I initially felt off like I had stepped into someone's living room. But Alpa's friendliness matches the atmosphere. Give this spot a chance for lunch!

This place has legitimately the sweetest owner (in a diabetes friendly way!!) and the nicest dishes you can find this side of... whatever reference point you choose, really.

Alpa’s shop is amazing! Alpa makes the best Chai! Like literally freshly-made Chai…OMG!
Just the right balance of spices…yummy! Please stop by and support locally-owned business.

Update: Just had the Makhni Salad - amazing!!!!

The owner is very sweet and kind but something about the place seems off.
There was spoilt food/trash smell right as we entered. Wish we stuck to our gut and didn’t order. The concept itself is good but she definitely doesn’t comply with sanitary conditions.
1. She didn’t wear gloves while adding any items in the bowl.
2. The rice smelled very off and seemed like it was almost spoilt. Hope the owner takes care next time as this is something people can catch on to easily.
3. The salad leaves were not feeling fresh either, it was definitely few days old left in the refrigerator. Spinach leaves were wilted and the lettuce had brown color to the ends so it definitely wasn’t fresh.
Bottom line - if you aren’t able to give fresh ingredients to people you shouldn’t be charging $20 per bowl. So crazily priced for no quality.
We didn’t get a traditional take out bowl where you could mix the sauces into this rice salad bowl. That was hard itself to do so we couldn’t eat this properly after we did take out. Given that the place is meant to mostly cater to people who come for take outs, it doesn’t meet the standards.

Very tasty veggie bowls, definitely give it a shot for a healthy meal.

The owner is so kind, and clearly loves what she has created! The vibe is unique, as the tables are in the kitchen. The food was so flavorful, and the turmeric cooler and ginger lemonade were absolutely divine. We will definitely go back!

Vegetarian options: Many dishes can be made vegan, too

Kid-friendliness: I wouldn't think young kids would enjoy, as it is mostly salad, but you know your kid best.

Wheelchair accessibility: Street level entrance, no stairs in building

Eats Meets West has moved to a much more convenient location in Downtown Redwood City. The food is so good, and healthy! My partner and I both have different food allergies, here we can customize our bowls to eat however we're feeling. I usually choose the creamy sauces and add all the gluten free crunchy toppings for my brown rice and salad bowl, plus it's so cute in the heart shaped bowls!

Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian options available

I stumbled across Eats Meets West Bowls. What a find! Alpa, the owner has created soulful offerings that are healthy and unique. You get a choice of rice and sides that are coupled with proteins and sauces that are a blend of India, Panama and North American cuisines.

Where do I even begin? Alpa is an amazing person. She is very down to earth and passionate about her business ventures. It shows in Eats Meets West Bowls - the perfect fusion of healthy, many plant based ingredients with the immersion of Indian flavors. I loved it! The vibe is very homely and it felt super nice to talk to Alpa while she cheffed up my meal!

The food is okay, we ordered two bowls that were almost identical despite being Panamanian and Indian flavored and a very nice owner. However I wanted to leave a review because of the value aspect, we’re talking almost $17 per bowl for shockingly small portions and $7 for a small scoop of microwaved chicken and old rice.

Ordered two very different bowls and were given the same order with the only difference being the subtly flavored sauces on the side and the $7 addition of microwaved chicken on one bowl. Disappointingly small portion size for the price. Paid $44 and left hungry.
