Amazing cutting skills were demonstrated and exhibited here tonight. Ordered deep fried squid. What we got was the extra fat deep fried batter. The squid was cut as thin as (actually thinner than) bamboo chopsticks, just like angel hair spaghetti. Enjoyed batter. Really good batter. Excellent batter. $14 batter. The string squid was used just to hold deep fried batter together. Nobody ever thought of this unique cooking technique. New invention in the Chinese culinary world. I highly recommend this restaurant BOTH to the culinary cutting skill lovers AND to the deep fried batter lovers. What a hidden gem in the Bay Area. I'm speechless. I will definitely come back again.

My family and I have been going to Gin Mon for years and have always had a great experience. Everyone who works there is really friendly, but Grace always remembers our family and makes it a great experience. They also can make many of their dishes gluten free if you ask- we've ordered the fried rice, cashew chicken, and sizzling rice soup gluten free before and it's all been delicious! They have a large selection of many delicious options, and there is something for everyone on the menu! The restaurant itself is very cozy with maybe ten tables. There is also lots of parking as they share a parking lot with the grocery store, Baskin Robbins, subway, and several other stores and restaurants. We go out of our way to go to Gin Mon for the delicious food and friendly staff!

If you are like us, you count your blessings when you have an amazing Chinese restaurant to go to. We've been coming here for years, and it never disappoints. My ten year old boy loves the pot stickers, they are fresh and delicious! The pot stickers are made here so no frozen food. Honey walnut shrimp, sweet and sour chicken, vegetable fried rice, garlic green beans and chow mein are some of our favorites, and don't forget their delicious hot tea. I totally recommend this place, I'm sure you will be a customer for life!

We were here last 20+ years ago. The owner Ben Wang sold out 8 years ago. The restaurant is located in Belmont in the Carlmont Village at Alameda and Ralston. The place is small and holds around 40, however, when we arrived the place was empty ( around 4:00pm). There was only one person behind the counter and no server, so we waited for ten minutes when the server who must have been on break arrived. They do mostly take out. Now to the food. We only ordered three seafood dishes: pan fried noodles with meat, shrimp and vegetables, shrimp fried rice and honey walnut shrimp. The shrimp was delicious as well as the rice, but when I took a bite of a piece of chicken in the pan fried noodles, it had the most nasty and foul taste that I had to put in a napkin. It really gave me the shivers so I only ate the noodles The meal was $60.00. I overheard one takeout order was $150.00 The price does not reflect the quality of the food. I would have given it 4 star if not for the distasteful bite.

I’ve been coming here since I was 11!! Always fresh and delicious food. I don’t live in the area anymore but I think I’ll drive up to treat myself for my birthday in the fall ???

Bland and uninspired. We ordered tons of different dishes and were wholly unimpressed. We likely wont be back.

We loved our sweet and sour pork, Mongolian beef, and fried rice. Our perfectly prepared dishes came quickly and were piping hot. Our server was very attentive and seemed genuinely happy to help us order. All in all it was a very good dining experience. ? We're looking forward to our next trip back to this cozy little spot.

I have such amazing memories here, I used to go all the time in high school and still try and get back when I visit my parents. Great vegetarian options, wonderful waitstaff.

Still as good as I remember 20+ years ago. Super friendly staff and delicious well executed dishes. Nothing over the top fancy just good, fresh chinese food. Lunch specials are very reasonably priced. Will have to return more often to get my Gin Mon fix. Highly recommend.

I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is, I've been eating here for 23 years now. The hot and sour soup is the only thing I will eat when I'm under the weather and the rest of the menu is incredible. The dinner special is a must try build your own kind of dish, don't forget to order the sesame balls!!

Cam here with the family and had a nice dinner. I really like the interior of the restaurant, beautiful design and pleasant and cozy to be in. Food was good, we ordered Mongolian beef, Walnut prawns, sweet and sour pork and Von wonton soup. Everything tasted good. Seems like they are understaffed, as every business nowadays. But overall experience was good.
