We dropped into Baxter's randomly last night and we're lucky enough to be seated in the speakeasy. This was a side room of the restaurant but also a world away! The atmosphere was amazing, plush, comfortable and yet sleek with a bit of a club feel. Then the food! Not only was it beautiful in presentation but absolutely delicious. My husband had the lamb and practically licked the plate clean he loved it so much. The scallops were also amazing and not over sauced. Both came with mashed potatoes and veggies which at most restaurants aren't that great, Baxter's however made these side dishes equally fresh and appealing. Their bartender knew what he was doing and made some great martinis as well. Overall it was an excellent experience, highly recommended! Usually I'd have to go to SF to get this kind of service, food and atmosphere.

You can tell this is a fairly new restaurant and I want them to do well but they have some issues to work thru. We picked this restaurant for the saganaki Greek cheese. It is the first thing on the menu. Well they did not have it...they should have crossed out on menu, the hostess could have told us, or even a sticky note on the menu. I ordered a Sauvignon blanc and it had a bug in it. Took several minutes to get the waiters attention, only 4 other tables. We ordered the burrata salad. Burrata was very good but no dressing on the lettuce. Just a little balsamic vinegar. No bread served with it so I asked for bread. They said they were out of rolls and brought some bread but no butter or oil dipping sauce even tho the saucer was on the plate. The beet salad was good. The pizza was right out of the frozen food section from grocery store.

I stopped in for a cocktail and a small bite, and was fortunate to meet with one of the owners. It's very stylish inside with a very intimate room for private parties. The bartender made a great cocktail & their wine list is amazing.

First time here and enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. We were seated at 4 pm and were greeted with warm and friendly smiles. Wine choices were greatly appreciated and we did indulge! We ordered a beet salad and a burrata and prosciutto salad which we found very tasty and refreshing. The main dishes were Chicken Cordon Blu and Filet Mignon. There were a few hiccups along the way and my steak was not prepared as ordered but they did go above and beyond to rectify my steak! Even the chef came out to check if my steak was to my liking! We will be back for sure! Thank you so much and it was a true treat!!!

Benicia has a GREAT restaurant now! Consistently great food & creative cocktails with friendly staff and happy guests. They have raised the bar for quality in Benicia. Make sure to reserve because this place has become very hip.

Had dinner here for my birthday with a couple girlfriends and the BEST time. Dinner was delicious and the service was amazing. We were checked in on by the owner, Kenneth, who was very friendly and were even treated to a little champagne toast for the whole table and a birthday song from him and staff. Such a sweet surprise and we will definitely be coming back!

Great food! Pricey but worth it. We had the scallops and the salmon, both served in a wonderful lemon caper sauce. Beautiful bread pudding for dessert. However, service not so great. The waiter forgot my wine order. He was busy chatting up some other customers at the next table, and I couldn't get his attention, even in such a tiny space. After a long wait, I managed to wave him over. The bread pudding was served in a scorching hot pan, too hot, really, to be put on the table, even with a warning from the waiter. Very small room and unfortunately, we were subjected to very loud neighbors. If you're going for the food and can ignore the downsides, it's worth a try!

We had an amazing time last night celebrating my aunt's birthday. It was our family's first time there and Kevin and Kenneth made it such a special evening. We were fortunate to get the speakeasy room. The atmosphere, food and service made it a memorable evening.

So, first off let me say the ambiance was perfect. Small restaurant area but nice to be able to have a conversation and hear without shouting. The staff at Baxters is awesome. Professional, witty and welcoming. Can't say enough about them. The food was good as well. The meat dishes were cooked perfectly, but maybe slightly under seasoned. Same for the beet salad - need to season those beets or they don't really taste like much. Great presentation though. Desserts not pictured but according to The table they were really good. I believe they had bananas foster, bread pudding and some other banana dish. I'm not big on those so I skipped and had a cup of coffee. The coffee was good and something new they are offering. The cocktails were all good; kinda pricey but fairly normal these days. If in Benicia I would recommend giving Baxters a try. I enjoyed it and need to go back and check out the speak-easy side of the establishment. Cheers!
