What an adorable little coffee shop on 1st street. I was passing through the area on an early morning and made my way off the highway to this quaint little space in Downtown Benicia. I arrived right at opening and was warmly greeted by Jessica and Kay. I asked for a recommendation from Jessica and went with a Mocha Latte made with Oat Milk. She mentioned the donuts were vegan as well, so I ordered a tasty maple one. As the rest of the town woke up and came in, they were each greeted with a similar friendliness from the staff. Regulars and standards guests alike! That Latte was fantastic! Thanks, Jessica! I took my time to soak in the music, decor, and ambiance. After enjoying that for a spell, I opted for some avocado toast. The seasoning that they make in house was tasty! After some light conversation, and watching the sun rise on the calm street outside, I reluctantly returned to the world beyond this delightful respite. If you're in the area looking for some lovely bean water with a side of welcoming, delightful service, then I can't recommend States Coffee in Benicia ENOUGH!! The stellar service is something to be emulated by other coffee shops. Thank you for having me. It was a pleasure, and a great way to start my day!

So grateful for states coffee in Benicia! Amazing toast (my fav is the cashew butter), banana bread, pastries and coffee. Service is always friendly and I love the ambiance. I come here multiple times a week and it's always a treat!

States Coffee has been my go-to in Benicia for a morning coffee and toast. The interior has ample seating, but as it's also geared for laptop workers (power strips, wifi) sometimes seats are all taken. I love the clean spacious tables and bright interior.
The toasts are thick. They're big slices slathered with toppings on it in an open-face style. I've enjoyed all the toppings I've tried so far. The feta avocado is my favorite.
Not a coffee connoisseur of any kind, but it has caffeine and I'm happy with it. A great place to start my morning or an afternoon cafe spot.

⭐️BEST COFFEE IN THE BAY AREA ⭐️
If I could give States Coffee 10 stars, I would. I am a coffee addict and States Coffee has the best cappuccino in the Bay Area! It’s delicious. I was in Benecia for 9 days and came here very day! Hailey is an amazing barrister, the coffee she made me was amazing every single time!!
Jess at the till was SO NICE! We loved her energy! She always greeted us with a smile each morning and was so friendly.
Love this place, it’s a must try! Oh and the Banana bread is delicious and super moist too!

I miss when this place used to make/have bread consistently! Also the espresso has been really inconsistent for at least a couple of years.
Additionally, they used to have for-here (ceramic) cups/plates that they no longer have, that I know for me was a big draw. The person behind the register said it was because they were understaffed.
Feels like the owners have moved on to focusing on their other locations. This has been a big social center in Benicia (whereas in Berkeley, residents have many, many more options if the coffee is inconsistent, say). I wish they would focus more on staffing/training the Benicia store!
Great work cafe with two large communal work tables. Great espresso. I wish they didn't close so early. Donut was okay.

I enjoyed the atmosphere and service. However, I wish there was more almond filling in the almond financier. My 2.5-year-old son got a cupcake with milk. Overall, we liked the desserts and the environment.

Seems like the place closes at a whim at times. Seems very inconsistent at times. While I understand issues arise would be helpful if you post something on Facebook or Instagram on closing early.
They do not sell loaves of bread here anymore. Disappointing.
