Great service and delicious burgers. The burgers are pretty big. My friend and I split one burger and fries... I could barely finish my half.
Good food and fast friendly service
Delicious but somewhat expensive burgers in the Gourmet Ghetto that is in North Berkeley. Barneys is a small chain of hamburger restaurants that are primarily in the Oakland Berkeley area. We didn't know, but now we do.
For perspective, a Barneys burger costs $17.50, but it's a really good burger. Burgers are cooked to order with very good quality beef. Fries, onion rings, and other sides are ordered separately. Whereas the burgers were excellent, the onion rings and fried vegetables (their version of tempura) were on the oily side. Keep this in mind.
Their menu is expansive, and they offer salads and other items. We stuck to the burgers.
Service is friendly and efficient. Parking can be challenging, but there are metered spaces about a block away near Safeway.
The restaurant is clean and well maintained. The shiny sign out front gives a slight indication of the pride they take in the establishment... or maybe we're just being too generous.
In any case, on a nice day, try to snag a table on the patio and bite into a juicy, well crafted burger..all while soaking in the liberal elite vibe of North Berkeley It's a nice experience.
Initially, I thought it was overpriced to spend $19 on a burger without fries. It turned out to be fantastic. I was thinking all day about how great that burger was.
Over $20 for most of their burgers WITHOUT FRIES.
A kid's cheeseburger and fries was 12.50.
Prices are out of control.. there's many places with higher quality burgers for way less.
Greedy!
My husband’s burger was over done and dry. Mine was pink as a like it. Wish it had been juicer. Nice wine and beer lost. Giant onions rings were good. Was hoping for more. Excellent options. Perhaps we will try it again.
Amazing food and service. Fries are amazing. Love this place!!!
Life changing milkshake. Burger was pretty mid. I have traveled the world drinking milkshakes along the way - this is a top two milkshake I’ve ever had. The only one that might be better is at Carl’s in Fredericksburg, VA. It is exceptionally close. Spectacular strawberry shake. The burger was just fine. The fries weren’t crispy enough, but I’ll be damned if the shake wasn’t worth traveling for. Would return.

We ordered Santa Fe and Chipotle burgers with garden patty. Burgers lacked flavor, overpriced at $20, avoid.

Chill burger spot just outside of DT Berkeley. Solid, handmade burgers with lots of options. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating l, and could accommodate my dog on the outside patio. Curly fries were genuinely perfect, and the burger was sizable and delicious (I got the gastro pub).
