Generous portions, attentive service, delicious food, cute interior. My fave is the Chiang Mai Noodles! 🤤 And I love that the pad thai and pad see yu are very flavorful and saucy. They often have the basketball game on the big screen too. Great neighborhood spot, please support them!
my mom's an absolute thai food fanatic and this is her favorite spot in the bay. love their pad thai and papaya salad!
This is an A+ for the staff there. I made an order through DoorDash but I was so limited by what instructions I could put on the order. I had to call in and ask to substitute white rice side orders for sticky rice and to put less chicken in the kao poon. The staff there was super sweet and accommodated those phone requests.
Also the food is good here because my mom keeps ordering from here :)
Big thumbs up for this restaurant's cozy and nice ambience. Seating was roomy and comfortable. Everything was clean. Staff was attentive.
There was a good selection of dishes on the menu. We liked the curry dishes and the Pad Se-Ew Noodle. The tapioca drink was also good. The Pad Thai Noodle was too sweet and too saucy, unlike its traditional counterpart.
Overall, it was a pleasant dinning experience.
The Tom Kha was fantastic, and their Khao Soy Laos is to die for!
Tasted like candy with barely any veg or chicken, not fresh.
Idk how they make everything so flavorless… For real I feel like they are missing so many major spices. The food is giving me a headache. The server also got our order wrong twice (they are rly nice tho but still…)

Oh my God, I have the best spring rolls here ever
Kid-friendliness: I had my granddaughter with me. I forgot what she had but she really loved the spring rolls and the shrimp.

Terrible. Don’t seat here.
I ended up just getting a basic curry and it was terrible.
The vegetables were raw. Honestly Trader Joe’s bags of curry taste better than that.
This is my go to Thai place in the area. Delicious curry!

Simple, clean, delicious, reasonably priced "hole in the wall" but without anything negative about anything -- just unpretentious with totally great food!
Lunch specials are a real bargain, but good any time. The coconut curry broths are fantastic, esp. Yellow curry with fresh eggplant & green beans.
Green curry as good, just different.
Red curry places third but still 5 stars.
Don't miss the little chive cakes or the Pad Thai as good as anywhere in Chiang Mai or Bangkok.
As for Thai in general, please note that 3 of the "world's best restaurants" listed for 2024 are in Thailand.
Chai Thai brings that to Berkeley!

I rarely give five stars. This is the best Thai restaurant, hands down, within a half hour in any direction. Try the rice ball salad. We can't get enough. The Penang Crispy duck anf the Roti are also standout dishes.
Awesome, friendly, attentive service.
Update: Management please fix your music. It is about 20% too loud and your wireless connection keeps dropping, leading to a very annoying experience.
