This hotel and spa is exceptional full of exceptional people. A little story… my best friend was getting married and our gift was a room here. We stayed for just a few hours before an emergency called us home. The night audit on 8/31 was compassionate and helped us extend the night so my friend could stay two nights instead of one. This made all the money we paid worth it on a non refundable room. Everyone there made an exception for us and I couldn’t be more grateful. The few hours we were there was a dream. We first checked out the pool and the sweetest man showed us around who was tending to the gym. He was proud of the place he worked and was a joy to speak to. After the pool we went to the Limewood restaurant. I couldn’t decide on what menu item I wanted the server generously gave me two meals for the price of one. The bartender was funny and kind. The hostess brought blankets to those who were sitting outside. This was probably the best meal I’ve ever had. Everything was perfect. As a small token of an apology for missing the wedding Jeanne, the concierge, helped me order a bottle of champagne to the room and even saw if she could find some complimentary chocolates. I’ve never had such a wonderful experience at a hotel as I’ve had here. I hope to one day return and give a big hug to everyone who made my short trip so special.

I brought my guest to the restaurant for a meeting. There was nothing peaceful or elegant about the brunch. I felt like I was being served at a cafeteria: quick, efficient and lacking in any grace at all. I will not be back.

Living in SF's Sunset district meansfoggy summers.Coming to the "club", sitting on the pool deck was heavenEven with the full summertimepool madness going on was like one thousand miles away from SF.We loved it!A family resort right over the bridge. Thanks for the break.

Lovely hotel, an upgraded historic hotel, quiet and comfortable, the views from the lobby are great, Room views will depend on what you get. The staff takes great care of you, very friendly, and quick. Most all places including the hotel are on an incline, some steep slopes, so plan accordingly when walking. Could not find a full length mirror in the room, which was a bit odd.

The hotel experience is def 5/5. We were there to celebrate a special occasions and they had a dessert waiting for us with a personalized card. The room was spacious with great views, clean, and the concierge helped were in touch/communicative with me before our stay to help us book golf rounds and spa services. The spa 3/5 starsThe spa experience however was just average. The service I received was a massage and the actual service was good. The spa staff were all very nice. The spa facility and amenities are outdated and lacking some final touches. For example if you’re staying in the hotel you get Le Labo products. If you go to the spa the products are generic, no hair brushes, no facial products, no hair products, no self care products, and no swim suit dryer. Also, the concierge failed to tell me that the men’s showers and amenities in the spa were under construction when we booked. They called to tell me the day before we were there and already committed to the massage. My partner had to walk through a parking lot in his robe to take a shower at the gym. Not a very good experience.I would not book at the spa here again and book at the rosewood in mento park if you’re looking for a nice and tranquil spa day.

Have you ever called “Royal Service” 6 times in a row and gotten absolutely no answer? Or called Room Service and gotten a voicemail? Unbelievable that whether it’s O for the operator, or the concierge or in room dining, when you call at 9PM, not a soul answers. In 40 years of traveling, that’s never happened. Try asking for a replacement amenity in the room because it was defective, and when they send up the replacement, it was in worst condition than the original. This is a Fairmont, but it’s a far cry from any Fairmont we have ever visited.

The location, services, staff, and environment are great and contributed to a unique experience during our stay at the hotel. There are many things to do on site and its proximity to UC Berkeley is excellent for attendees of programs or events at the university.

A beautiful hotel in a stunning spot with great views and very helpful staff. We are finishing off our 5 day stay at the hotel and have loved the feel of the hotel and the spot it is in, it has been lovely to spend time in San Francisco and then escape the traffic and intensity of the city by driving up into the hills to what feels like a little oasis of a country resort. The views are stunning, be booked a bay view room and can see the bridges and bay quite clearly. The reception and concierge staff are great and very knowledgeable and helpful. The pool area seems to be used predominantly by local families and their little children, lots of swimming lessons going on and difficult to find loungers with any shade. Also the loungers and tables seemed dirty throughout the day (including morning) with not much sign of staff wiping them etc, which isn’t great considering how many children (sticky hands and spillages) there are. As a hotel guest this jarred a bit with the luxurious country retreat feel for us but understand it is a great facility for local families. The hotel room itself is beautiful and newly renovated. We are a family of three and had two double beds (felt quite small), but only one chair so whenever we were in the room, two of us had to sit on the bed which was a little odd. The facilities in the room are good (hairdryer very good and a plug socket near a mirror which is very rarer in hotels I find!) The only part of our stay that really didn’t work for us have been the dining options. It feels like dining here is geared more for non hotel guests. Breakfast was a faff, and far too over the top for hotel residents. Our room rate included breakfast as we have needed to be out each morning for 08:30 (son attending a Berkeley camp), he were expecting the usual hotel buffet style breakfast that we could select what we wanted and vary our choices each morning but unfortunately that isn’t on offer here. Instead there is a very limited menu to order from each morning. The menu feels a bit over the top for every day, with very rich and fancy options and with it being table service it then requires a tip for the server (who are very pleasant and helpful) so where we thought we had breakfast costs included, we have had around $30 expected tip each morning. Also, breakfast finishes at 09:45 and not 10:00 as stipulated on the website, which seems very early for a hotel. Dinner also has been a bit of a pain, the hotel restaurant evening menu is very limited and although beautifully prepared doesn’t really seem worth the $, our meal last might was $100 per head and was average in quality. The only place walkable for dinner is a burger shack which is very good but limited (the burgers are better here than the hotel btw). There are fantastic walkable places for lunch / brunch but all close in the afternoon. The hotel restaurant really feels more set up for a special meal out for locals and again, not for hotel guests. Overall though, we have had a lovely stay.

Stayed here after our wedding. Was by the far the worst mistake we have ever made as a couple. The towels were thread bare and tore upon usage and the sound of the HVAC system outside of our “room with a view” really sealed the deal. The staff and management I spoke with the next morning indicated that they frankly didn’t care. I have stayed at hundreds of hotels in my life, and this one experience stands out as the biggest failure to life up to expectations.

I stay here all the time. The Club is great, and the Limewood restaurant is very good. The rooms vary in size and type, but they're all recently renovated and comfortable. The only problem is noise from the hallways, which comes in through cheap wooden doors with a large gap at the bottom. The maids scream in the hallways, and so do the guests.

Stunning view of the Bay, you can see both bridges on a clear day. The lounge has an amazing view and the staff are friendly. Not all rooms have a Bay view so be sure to request it. The housekeeping is impeccable, and it’s good to see sustainable practices in the hotel (providing reusable water jugs, using recycled materials for room keys etc)Spa facilities are super nice too - there are single gender saunas, steam room and whirlpools.

This is my first time staying at the Claremont Club & Spa. Invited by family to stay for the weekend. This is the perfect getaway in the hills of Berkeley. It is a hidden gem! The service is hands down amazing, and the staff is incredible. This is certainly a special place with gorgeous views of San Francisco Bay. We certainly enjoyed A Room with A View. I wonder if Alfred Hitchcock filmed one of his masterpieces at this location? This was the swanky country club location for filming during Mrs. Doubtfire starring Robin Williams, Sally Field, and Pierce Brosnan. This is certainly a stomping ground of the rich and famous and constructed in the early 1900s, 1915, actually! If you love tennis, this may be your new vacation spot with a swanky country club feel. This is a luxury hotel as it is associated with Fairmont reputation!

Great service and beautiful view. The rooms' carpet is too dark and along the dark headboard, they make the room look smaller than it is. Fabulous bathroom and shower. All new.

The staff is wonderful but this hotel needs some serious updating. It’s an old building and you can tell they haven’t renovated in decades. Not worth the money to stay here.
