Management is incredibly rude and lack an understanding of basic customer service skills (including terrible anger issues-- the manager was literally yelling at me as I was attempting to access the menu). The staff and food are great, but unfortunately the management ruined my experience permanently. Will not be going here again. Incredibly disappointing.

We ordered a masala dosa. The potatoes were were stale and had terrible odor. They dont accept cash and charged us an extra 1.95 credit card fee. They were no signs posted of of extra fee prior to us ordering.

I never write reviews but this experience compelled me.
The guy is not good at customer service. He kept asking me if I knew what pani puri is when I literally ordered it and told him I’ve had it several times before and love it. When I came back he continued to ask me if I knew what pani puri is and I said again that I’ve had it before. He then continues to show me how to eat it. He also said that my partner and I were taking too long to order and said that we should “plan our dinner accordingly“ when we did not even come close to closing time. He also kept asking us if we knew what Indian food was.
On to the actual food review:
The pani puri was extremely stale, the toppings tasted sour, almost going bad. I tried to give my dog a chickpea from it and he wouldn’t eat it (see picture below), and he eats bloody tissues off the street. The padina puri was lackluster. The number of times he asked me this question makes me think he was trying to dissuade me from
ordering it. Perhaps someone who has never had pani puri before thinks this is acceptable quality, however I did not. If you’re searching for good pani puri, try Vik’s Chaat instead.
The lamb curry was just okay (2.5 stars at the most). The fish curry just wasn’t good, it had spice but lacked actual flavor. (2 stars)
The food was also overpriced for the service and the quality of food. We will not be coming here again.

As a person, who has culinary experience and is a sucker for Indian food, this place disappoints. During the summer break, the place compromises on the quality of the food by miles. I ordered the Chole Bhature at this outlet for the second time and what they did was a cardinal sin. Instead of making a fresh Bhature (which you pay for), the cooking staff deep fried a store bought tortilla and made a make shift Bhature out of it.
Avoid!

Some of the best Indian food I have ever had. Lamb vindaloo, chicken tikka, roti and samosa were to die for. Owner was very sweet. Lowkey counter service place in the heart of Berkeley, close to UC campus. Highly recommend.

I bought a lamb shank and garlic naan. The meat was cold inside and gravy was warm. No taste in meat like it was kept since long time in refrigerator. Wasted 35 bucks almost.

I ordered spinach with cheese and it was cold and kinda sour. the dessert that looks like some white balls is directly from a can and tastes so bad
A bit scetchy ethically. There isnt really a buffet. You tell the guy what dish you want and he dishes it up. He has total control over portions. That is not true of a buffet and he knows it. Petty proud, dollar foolish!

I had run by and the food smelled great but I didn’t know which restaurant it was, so (I’m not joking) I walked down the street until I smelled that same aroma from earlier. I lost the receipt so I don't remember which dishes I ordered, but I remember getting their 2 combo specials, either samosas or poori and a lassi. I do know the food was amazing. I had arrived past noon, and the food was fresh, and the naan was piping hot. I live an hour away, but this is one of those restaurants I would make a detour for.

Popped in here on a whim with my daughters for a quick dinner before record shopping across the street wasn’t expecting much considering the location and sure enough the atmosphere was bright fluorescent lights and sticky tables and a locked bathroom and piles of who knows what in the corner, the quintessential definition of a hole in the wall restaurant. But the gentleman at the front counter was super friendly and gregarious and didn’t make us use the ordering kiosk and brought us out several dishes of surprisingly flavorful and quite spicy food which the three of us liked a lot. He even let me come back an hour later and use the bathroom which I thought was nice. Overall, don’t expect much as far as atmosphere, considering it’s a pretty rough and tumble part of town, but the food was plentiful and spicy and generally that’s all I care about.
