A beautiful place to walk you don't necessarily need to be a student to be able to admire the beautiful campus of the University of Berkeley a spectacular view from foothill student housing

Stayed here my freshman year and had to move out half way.

I left my stuff in the dorm during winter break but they stole it without telling me and frame it as their “policy”. So now they can commit theft without any consequences.

Has the most horrible staff in the mail room. Don’t waste your time with these people who hate their job already.

For every incoming student, pls don’t choose this horrible place to stay.1 Foothill is very far away from teaching buildings, supermarkets and restaurants. (ik Clark Kerr is further away from everything and I feel sorry for people who live there but i think only a small amount of people live there or maybe bc it's too far away from everything so people who live there don't come to campus that often so the chances of meeting them are quite small?)2 If you’re lucky enough to live in hillside, there are always many big trucks driving through the steep road next to the dorm and they make tons of loud noises due to their poor engines starting from the morning every day to wake you up.3 This place has the worst dining hall ( idk if it’s that the campus doesn’t like this dorm or the manager thinks the kids here are all brats so he decided to let them suffer but whatever). Crossroads and cafe3 serve kinda juicy beef very often but only foothill doesn’t serve beef at all (oh wait! they do but only in the beginning of the very first semester to impress you and then maybe later once every 4 months). Instead, they only serve dry cardboard chicken breast (the type of chicken breast you can use to hit someone’s head and the person’s head will bleed)4 Its gym is so small (Every dorm has a small gym and I've been to the one in unit 1 and it is quite small as well). Just try to get to live in Blackwell. The gym in Blackwell has dumbells, a smithmachine, benches, leg machines... everything.5 Few buses come to this place. Plus, the buses in berkeley usually come late and they sometimes just don't come so if you want to go somewhere downhill, you better walk most of the time bc you might end up waiting your bus forever.6 Stupid design. I don't understand why I can't go through the Stern hall, which is a dorm only for females students ik. buildings at hillside are Sausage-shaped and there are only 3 entrances that connected to the main roads. Thr first one is at the every left end on Hearst Ave, the second one is at the left end as well on Gayley Rd, which is close to the first entrance, and the last one is at the very right side on Gayley Rd but the last one is not a straight path. instead, it makes you detour around the stern hall which is in the middle and in front of foothill dorm. I think it would be a good idea to have a entrance that connected to the middle part of foothill dorm. The campus can definitely set a gate that people who live in foothill and the stern can acess and set some doors inside the stern hall to block people who don't live there from coming in. There are a bunch of other stupid designs in foothill as well but I'm not gonna talk ab them here.7. Old. Unit 1 to 3 are all using card door locks and only foothill is still using keys (they are kinda filthy after being used so often). Also, the windows, the pool table in the rec room are all quite old.8. Hot. Idk ab the other dorms but it is quite hot here and there is no ac (for those who don't know this, there's no ac in most places on campus bc the campus is poor)My final advice......Don't live in a dorm!!! Tell the campus specifically that you don't want to live in the dorms. The price is $2500 a month for a double room here (ik it includes the blue meal plan which is around $600 but but but it is a double room so you're forced to share a room with another person you don't know at all and you might get a person who only uses water to wash their clothes without laundry detergent. Moreover, you will never know what type of people will live in your suite like people in my suite are always very noisy and often don't flush the toilets oh and someone just threw up in the bathtub earlier, i don't know if that person is retarded or what but why couldn't he throw up in a toilet). It is a overpriced for its quality.Renting a one bedroom studio outside the campus only costs $1500 - $2000 per month but you can get your own room and a quiet space and you can still buy the meal plan if you want.

Very Spacey the only thing they need to improve is air conditioning they don't have air conditioning in there I guess you have to bring your own but was clean nice the day we went in it was really busy as hell besides that my son loves it that's the only thing that matters

. Culturally diverse. Intelligent people all around. Amazing dorms and staying options. Ample parking spaces and restaurants all around. I wish it was more secure and the building for Architectural Study could be more beautiful. It’s ironic that that’s the least visually appealing of all the buildings.

They are now clean and santized.

Best dining hall is at foothill

Go here occasionally for lunch. Non student price around $13.50, all you can eat, and while I haven't been to all student cafeterias at UCB, this one has a great selection of good food. Much better than I remember when I lived in the dorms.

There are several dining halls in Berkeley, but Foothill is my favorite. This is my first semester in Stern and I live in a girl’s dorm, needless to say, I have to find a place where I can eat good, healthy and not so expensive food in order to survive! Foothill is placed conveniently close to where I currently live, so it’s my favorite and closest place for having dinner or late night snack when I miss the dinner. They are serving dinner from 5pm to 8pm and it is more like all you can eat buffet. The menu is not always the same and that is what I like about it, there is always something new and unique on the menu and so far everything I tried was delicious as heck! They post their menu online every day so you can easily take a sneak-peek at what you will be having for dinner. My fave is the tri tip with chimichurri sauce. The food is fresh and they also have a decent choice for vegetarians.

Definitely the most peaceful, picteresque, and homely place to live in as a Freshman. The food though, and the fact that the bathrooms are cleaned only once a week, brings down the rating one star.

Somewhat old and ageing. Needs some TLC. Convenient and safe for any freshmen at Cal though one can expect loud noises and some nuicense during late evening concerts over the weekends
