Service is fast and we love the kids play area. I used to love the burgers but I am less inclined to go because they last time i went a few wks ago, it wasn’t as good. Can someone tell me if they changed their buns? It’s not as squishy.

I recently visited Headlands Brewing in Berkeley, located along Gilman Street in an area known for its cluster of craft breweries and light industrial spaces. The taproom has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that feels authentic to the Bay Area’s brewing culture. Large brewing equipment is visible inside the space, which reinforces that you are drinking beer directly at the source. The layout is casual, with communal tables and open seating that encourage conversation among guests who are there primarily to explore different beers.

The brewery focuses on a rotating selection of craft beers that highlight balance and drinkability. Their lineup often includes approachable styles such as lagers, pale ales, and IPAs alongside seasonal or experimental releases. Rather than leaning toward overly aggressive flavor profiles, the beers tend to emphasize clean execution and thoughtful brewing techniques.

Service during the visit was friendly and knowledgeable. Staff were comfortable explaining the differences between beers and offering suggestions, which helps visitors navigate the tap list whether they are experienced craft beer drinkers or simply curious to try something new.

From a global travel perspective, Headlands Brewing reminds me of independent neighborhood breweries found in cities like Portland, Vancouver, and Copenhagen. These breweries thrive by combining quality brewing with an environment that brings people together over shared interest in craft beer.

Love that they serve both tasty beers and good food. I enjoy their Gilman Curry Sandwich, Smash Burger, and the Michoacano Sandwich! It's an outdoor space with good vibes, fire pits, and TV if you want to catch a sports game. They also have a kids' play area, but good to watch the kids. Chill, backyard feel, I like this beer garden!

I’ve wanted to stop here forever. My favorite Thai restaurant across the street was closed so I popped in. The sandwich and fries were delicious. Nice staff and really pleasant family and dog friendly environment. Beautiful Sunday afternoon. Highly recommend visiting

Update: they are never open.

I've come several times in the last couple weeks and I'm not impressed. Food is much too expensive for the OK quality. Beer is sold at airport prices. There's no protection from the wind and the entire patio is covered in shade on these nice summer days. I got a hostile response when I asked to lower an umbrella so I could sit in the sun. I also made an inquiry about an ingredient and when I got the food what they had told me was wrong. And why am I eating a $17 salad with a tiny plastic fork? A very basic kale salad btw, and not even a large one. All that plus the hours are awful.

The woman at the counter is reliably friendly and their one proper West Coast IPA is very good.

Sunday noon at headlands on Bancroft. No football to watch but sure do have the jetsons on.

During recent visit a large number of brews on the menu board were out of stock.

A beautifully lit outdoor space with a fire that sets the perfect mood. The ambiance is so inviting, I could easily spend the whole evening here. Feels magical!

What a great stop on a visit to Berkerley! The beverages were delicious and the food was really good! Met DJ and chatted for a bit. Awesome spot to relax and hang out. We will
definitely be back! What a gem!
