Only 4 stars because this place is never open, upon reopen I will be the first in line. Best Chinese food in the Bay Area!!! Never crowded either although it should be, fresh, quality food.

We were craving chinese food and called ahead to order. All of the delivery/online order apps were down or said it was closed. So I was super confused... I had to call ahead and check if they were even open. We got the following: Walnut Prawns - Very good and very crispy when we got home! kept well considering it was take out Shrimp and Pork Wonton Noodle Soup - Won tons were great but the soup was kinda bland and I wish it came with some hot oil or condiments to help flavor the broth. General Tso's Chicken - Good but the breading is not very crisp Mapo Tofu - Super saucy and spicy. I'm no expert and rarely get mapo tofu but this hit the spot. All in all this is a decent spot to grab food. The dishes we got were satisfying but not memorable. It was nice being able to just drive really quickly, park and grab food though so we may try this place again sometime soon and maybe get different dishes.

Couldn't recommend this place more for their food and above all the service! I tried them for the first time ordering through a delivery app. An hour had passed after much confusion with cancellation due to app's error. Long story short, another 30mins I contacted Heat Cafe directly and they said they've been contacting the app too for a driver who still hasn't showed up. Without me asking the owner of the restaurant personally delivered my food at 9pm by this point, and the everything was delicious! It's business owners like this that will make it through this tough time, please support this local restaurant so they survive this pandemic!

We've been to this place many many times and had no idea they had duck! We tried their 5 spice duck last night and it was so so soooo good! It was super tender and didnt have any weird smell. I really hope they will keep this on the menu! To the restaurant - would you consider adding crispy roast pork belly to the menu? Hehehe

Okay, I'm scetch when it comes to chinese food but I finally found a place where the meats not mysterious. The walnut prawns were SMACK, so were the salt n pepper porkchops!! I'm sad there not open during tha pandemic but I get it.... it would make awesome date night dinner.

I was super excited to try their shrimp chow fun in creamy egg sauce, as it looks amazing, but it just didn't deliver on taste! The noodles taste more like salt than anything else, and the sauce was creamy indeed, but pretty bland and tasteless. They were generous with the shrimp and tend to give good size meat portions, and the rice noodles were cooked to perfect texture. The flavors were just lacking. Still, Heat Cafe is a great place to go when you're craving MILD Chinese soul food. The service is good, the place is cute (though the location isn't really), and the food is comforting.
Got take out here as it seemed popular on the yelp takeout. It is near the end of Shattuck where the old Staples was. Was somewhat disappointed as it is a bit pricey and the food is mediocre. We got the 3 cup chicken ($12.99) and the mongolian beef ($11). Both had a lot of MSG and the quantity wasn't that great as they tried to fill up space by putting in a lot of onions.
