We discovered Homeroom through a podcast interview with founder, and was surprised to find they're based in the East Bay, so we decided to check it out. We ordered an elote bowl as a starter and the seasonal special BBQ pulled pork mac and cheese. Unfortunately, the elote bowl arrived after the mac and cheese. The corn was soft and sweet, with delicious cheese and pepper powder that added a great kick to the flavor. The BBQ pulled pork mac and cheese was equally impressive—nice and cheesy, with surprisingly juicy pulled pork.

Isaiah was so attentive and thoughtful the entire time, absolutely wonderful staff. The food is fantastic (generous portions always served hot and fresh) and I highly recommend getting yourself a little treat (with a big oreo!) Lots of variations on mac and cheese, made further customizable by all the add-ons you can include. I tried their seasonal ones, a bbq pulled pork mac.

Homeroom berkely is an amazing little restaurant with great food, wonderful service, and a superb atmosphere. Our server Nathan was kind, considerate, and even comped our desert just because! The mac n cheese was awesome and they had so many options for customization (including vegan options). I couldn't reccomend it more if I wanted to! 6/5 stars

This place is much nicer than the Oakland location. It doesn’t feel cramped. It has a fun modern atmosphere and very generous service! My family celebrated a graduation here for my younger brother and the manager gave us a complimentary dessert. A great spot for date night as well. There is something for everyone including vegetarian and gluten free options.

As a person in a wheelchair, I looked this place up before leaving to ensure I would be able to come in along with my friends. However, the wheelchair lift was broken and when we asked an employee if there was an alternate entrance, we were just told to "take it up with the city". My friends had to disassemble my chair, help me up the stairs and reassemble the chair at the top. If the restaurant is advertised as wheelchair accessible, you should probably make sure YOU take it up with the city and temporarily note your restaurant is not currently accessible.
They're very understaffed. There's no one at the host station even though it says please wait to be seated. Took a while before one of the two waiters noticed us to get us sat and we had to wait a while before they came back so we could ask for a kids menu (which turned out to be the same as what's on the regular menu). We had to ask multiple times for boxes and took a long time to get the check (other people were also trying to get anyone's attention). The staff was very nice, but seems like they need more people. The food was excellent and you get a lot. Definitely recommend adding breadcrumbs to whatever you get.

We ordered two dishes: Bacon Brussels Sprouts and Kogi Short Rib Mac.
The Brussels sprouts came first, and when we tried them, they were still cold inside. So we asked the server to fix them for us. We didn't know how they fixed it, but they served the dish with everything burned and bitter (I tasted a bit).
We asked them to make a new one because we couldn't eat it (afraid of getting cancer!).
So they made a new one for us, but it was still cold (frozen) inside. I took the dish back to the counter and asked them to touch it as proof.
We feel sorry to reject the food, but the quality is not as we expected.

We DoorDashed from this place and it was delicious! We ordered the crab Mac and cheese, Brussel sprouts, and the Oreo cookie. The Mac and cheese had good flavor and a nice texture. The Brussel sprouts were soft and not bitter and for being someone who hates balsamic, the maple balsamic glaze wasn’t overbearing. I will definitely be trying their other macs!

Went there for dinner. Our second time around because the boys enjoyed it so much. They love the mac n cheese with bacon bits added to it. The elote bowl was yummy. Of course we had to have dessert. Mélissa (the manager) was awesome!
Kid-friendliness: There's a little play area inside where kids can play tic tac toe, school lockers, a long table with little chairs and paper to draw and write on. There's a kids' menu.
