Atmosphere is very charming and perfect for a romantic date.I ordered the Insalata Agrume salad with little gem, frisée, grapefruit, orange segments, fetta cheese, candied walnuts and cherry vinaigrette. It was served with warm focaccia bread and olive oil and vinegar. Very yummy!Scampi Di Gamberetti, linguini, wild shrimp, olive oil, calabrian chili, roasted garlic and parsley was absolutely delicious. The pasta and shrimp were cooked perfectly and they did not skim on the size of shrimp.My dinner companion ordered the Pollo Picatta, grilled chicken, capers, white wine in creamy lemon sauce, sautéed vegetables and mashed potatoes. She cleaned her plate:-)I definitely will be dining at IOG again!

Pretty nice desserts. We had a lovely pasta meal at our friends' home in El cerrito but didn't make dessert and because we had italian we were craving for that type of sweetness :) so tiramisu and panacotta it was :) Lovely both but definitely on the sweet side!

We made a reservation for outdoor patio (there is no such a thing only a sidewalk in front of the parking lot kind of a thing), table wasn't ready, the hostess offer an inside table next to the bar that was ok (better than the parking lot), food was good but certainly not worth the price we paid. Waiter's service was very good. Overall, I think there are many other great Italian restaurants with better ambiance, better food and better price.

We made a reservation for our daughter's graduation from UC Berkeley/Cal at the last minute on Open Table as our previous reservation got cancelled. The reservations were easy to make, the table was ready when we arrived, the staff was attentive and the food was wonderful! There was easy parking and they let us relax and have a nice meal with our family without the worry of turning our table. There was plenty of space between tables so as not to be cramped. The food was wonderful and the price point was good. All in all a 10/10 experience!

A good solid restaurant with something for everyone. The fish and seafood were top-notch. Great mussels and clams. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and delicious. We enjoyed the fritto misto and the servings were generous. The beer on tap was reasonably priced. A group of women nearby enjoyed a night out. Families brought their children and the toddlers were entertained. A pair of older men had a collegial discussion nearby. Really good restaurant for everyone. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. A good place to relax and just enjoy your meal.

Good service, nice staff members. Appetizers -fries. Flavors were good but potatoes might have been slightly under cooked. Both dipping sauce were good. Fresh warm bread was good as well. Pasta was more on the al dente side, could have cooked a little longer. Husband said the same to his dish. Both had really good flavors regardless. Drinks were really good, rhum mojito. And dessert was okay.

Ate there on Easter evening. Not crowded and very little noise. Service was above average. The linguine pescatore was very good and the serving was huge. The mussel appetizer was delicious. The linguine vongole and pork tortellini both were very tasty.

Ambiance was charming. Food was good, but a bit pricey. Service staff was friendly, but service was slow and not very attentive to the overall dinner. Had to fill my own water glass, ask to take our order and after food was served, never saw our waiter again.

The food was good, not remarkable, but yummy. We had the tortollini. Clearly it was not made in-house, but it tasted good. The sun reflecting off the car windows in the parking lot was a bit blinding. Hard to avoid, but maybe some shades for lunch? A little more attention to detail would be an improvement. Very nice staff!!
The food was fairly commercial grade. I'm not sure why others have rated it so well. It was unanimous around our table that the food was meh. Service was on the other hand, great. Can't say we'd ever return. Sorry.

We love the layout of the restaurant-although being the server on the 2nd floor is hard work-especially having to bring a tray of food. Music was aweful. Food was good. My salad with mango and beet-glad it included a golden beet but the mango bits and nut portions were disappointing. The lasagna was tasty but could use a heartier beef portion. The prosciutto was a bit salty but the melons were tasty. The menu is quite inclusive and it was hard to narrow down our choices. Our server was delightful! All in all-good!

Hosted my husband's 40th birthday dinner at Italy on Gilman last night and it was a success! Stephanie, the manager, is super friendly and accommodating. We had a party of 16, Stephanie made sure we were seated in a somewhat private section on their second level. I was able to show up 30 minutes early to decorate a little. We also asked to have a table for adults and one for the kids. Nobody walked past our section all night except for the staff. Amazing ambience, delicious food, can't go wrong with the Fritto Misto, Vongole Limone (clams in white wine) as appetizers. For those with kids, they also have a kid's menu, cheese or pepperoni pizza, penne w/ butter or marinara. Both kids and adults had a great time. We will definitely be back!

Terrible food placed for pick up. Highly suggest anyone interested in anything close to Italian food steer away from this restaurant. We ordered the chicken piccata and jumbo tiger shrimp with pasta. It looked like an order from ( Hungry Man's ) frozen dinner both 100% so rubbery that my service dog literally wouldn't eat the chicken. My wife's pasta with shrimp was so terrible she has to throw it out. Beware of this restaurant unless you're use to fast food dining. They're definitely in the KFC Taco Bell category rating

The energy, and food, at this restaurant is so easy to crave. It is me and my best friend's go-to spot for a good time.
