I found 3 bones in my salmon flake donburi, 1 small and sharp enough that I almost swallowed. I did not finish the bowl, but I’m sure there’s more in it.

Kirala 2 is pretty amazing. The quality of the food is top notch made by real Japanese. My only 2 gripes is a little pricey and parking sucks.

Good food, but some pre-prepared rolls weren’t as fresh as other sushi I’ve had in the area. Bad customer service. Hard to get information on gluten-free options over the phone, chef and cashier seemed indifferent to sensitive dietary restrictions. Multiple rolls were missing from the order. Upon calling to ask about a refund for the missing items, we were told it was not possible to get a partial refund for the missing items and that we had to return to the restaurant to pick up a refund in cash. Overall, decent food, but poor customer service and ordering experience, and very outdated POS. Will likely not return.

Update: if you love Udon cooked in its own broth, then you have to try it here! The rich flavor of the broth made this simple dish quite tasty along with it topped with various vegetable tempura. It only took them less than 10 minutes to make and made for a very quick treat for dinner!!!

Such a great spot for picking up high quality sushi at reasonable prices and very quickly! Love this hidden gem.

We've been picking up sushi and bentos here for years. Their salmon bentos and assorted sushi is fantastic. The miso salmon has a great depth of flavor. They have a wide variety of both bentos and sushi trays. The service is great and the atmosphere is relaxed. We highly recommend Kirala 2!

Their bento boxes are so good! Even better if you can heat it up :)

My partner and I split two rolls from here. It tasted really good! I'm cheap so I went for one of the reduced price rolls, which I assume was made the day before and discounted because of that. There was a noticable difference in taste, but not so much that it ruined the roll. The roll we got fresh tasted fantastic. Great place to get in, eat, and get out quickly. Affordable as well.

Came here on a Wednesday night and the place was packed. Luckily, despite the full house we only waited for about 10 minutes before we got our table. Once seated we ordered a whole bunch of stuff. Everything was pretty tasty, except for the Japanese salad which is not my favorite. Also everything was rather small in portion, if it weren't for the udon, I would have definitely needed more food. All in all, it was a good meal and the food was yummy. I just need to order more food next time to make sure I don't leave hungry. Lol...

I love the concept of a primarily togo offshoot of a Japanese restaurant in Berkeley but the prices are way too high for both the quality and service. These are higher prices than I see at restaurants where the food is not sitting in a fridge. I'm a huge proponent of take out sushi in this style (Kyoto on Solano Ave has a very similar business) but the prices need to come down because every time I stop by eager to have some sushi, I'm turned away from refrigerated sushi costing more than freshly made sushi I could get from a restaurant in 10 minutes. The non-sushi food is reasonably priced although the rice bowls (salted salmon or eel) are pretty small so I would pair those with a side. The green sticker promo has been updated to be 50% off food leftover from yesterday instead of getting it for free with a purchase. This let me get a salted salmon rice bowl for only $4 which was tasty but some of the rice was hard - that one's on me since I knew it was made yesterday.

My regular go to for takeaway sushi, when we don't have time to go to their main restaurants. Best sushi in Easy Bay!

// T A K E O U T O R D E R |1| Gyudon The actual beef tasted pretty good and was seasoned well, but the rice was overcooked and was too mushy for my preferences. There was also way too much rice for the little amount of beef you get and the overall size of the bowl itself was also pretty small. |2| Oyakodon Pretty average. The chicken was bland, and again, you get very little meat in comparison to how much rice there is. The size of the bowl was a lot larger than the gyudon, but most of it was just rice. |3| Sushi Combo HIGHLIGHT of the meal! This included 5 pieces of nigiri and 6 maki rolls. The raw fish was surprisingly good and fresh. The accompanying rice for the nigiri/rolls were also cooked well (especially in comparison to the rice bowls). This wasn't exactly cheap, but it's not too bad of a deal for a nigiri + roll set. |4| Alaskan roll This was the roll we got for free (refer to PRICES section below). The salmon still tasted decent, but this roll was made with brown rice which definitely did not taste as good. The consistency of the brown rice was a bit sticky/mushy and the avocados had browned a bit (since this roll was a day old). Not sure I would get this again, but I'm sure it would have tasted a lot better if it was fresh and made with white rice. // P R I C E S The food here isn't cheap, but it's not too expensive for Japanese takeout food. A great deal is that if you spend over $10, which is pretty easy to do, you can get any item labeled with an orange sticker for free! The items with the orange sticker are usually a day old, so these are already set at a discounted price. // O T H E R C O M M E N T S During early COVID, customers were not allowed to use the microwave (which is understandable), but this means that all rice bowls have to be eaten cold (unless you bring it home to reheat). Unfortunately for my husband and I, we bought the food to eat for a picnic so we had to deal with cold meat + rice. If you do come here, I would pass on any of the bentos or rice bowls and choose their sashimi/nigiri/roll options.
