Great drinks...they also gave a lot of free drinks since it was my first time at a Kava Bar. I had a few regular kava-only drinks and the chocolate kava mocktail. The bartender is very nice and he gave some background info on kava. Some personal notes, go there hydrated and DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL BEFORE OR AFTER having kava as it can cause serious health issues immediately. It was Sunday evening so, they play Mario Kart on a Wii U console which was quite fun. The vibe in the bar is quite relaxing. The only side effect I had was becoming a little drowsy a little afterwards leaving the lab.

I wandered here off the street bc I saw live music. Imagine my surprise and delight when I found out no one was drunk, only mellow mellow off Kava. Such a chill spot as community. I gotta come back

Personally, I don't love the kava drinks but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here! The kava in the drinks gives a ginseng-esque flavor and did make me feel calm after but the flavor left a very interesting feeling on my tongue that I'm not the biggest fan of. The atmosphere is so nice though, it is dim inside and lots of seating for friends to just chat and lounge around on. I would come here again with friends and just order something from the tab. Everyone here is so kind and very patient as it was my first time there, so I felt incredibly welcomed. Thanks for a great experience!

Prior to my MeloMelo visit, I had no idea what Kava was. But, when a friend invited me to try a nearby bar (MeloMelo), I was not going to pass up the opportunity. To my chagrin, I found out soon enough that this wasn't your run-of-the-mill bar but a Kava bar specifically. For those that aren't familiar, Kava is a legal substance (almost similar to CBD) that works to ease anxiety and induce feelings of serenity. As soon as we arrived, the bartender offered us a free sample of straight Kava and water to ease us into the experience. I didn't feel any mouth-numbing sensation that's typical of the Kava experience, but soon after, I did feel a lot more lethargic. We all ordered Kava cocktails to heighten our experience: the Melo Dream, Melo Colada, and Melo Ginger. My friends and I agreed that the Melo Colada was easily the best with the Melo Dream following suit and the Melo Ginger being the worst. Overall, MeloMelo's products were very soothing almost to the point of fatigue in my case. I'm not sure if I'd try it again, but it was definitely worth the experience. The bartenders were also incredibly patient and attentive. If you're looking to try Kava or just find a place to spend a boring weeknight, MeloMelo might just be the spot!

One of my favorite spots in the Bay Area. Great kava & kombucha & vibes. Knocking off 1 star because they don't take AmEx, and it's 2022.The other location on Grand Avenue takes AmEx & so I go there more often. Both are awesome!

First time we tried kava and it was such a pleasant experience! There were people from different age groups and we all sat at the bar. Since it was our first time they poured us and everyone at the bar a free drink and we all drank together! There was also a Happy Hour going on so we got another free drink! There's board games and couches as well!I had a great time and would definitely recommend this spot for anyone :)

It's the anti-bar: chill lounge vibes with quiet electronic music and lots of comfy sofas. People come here to read, study, work on their laptops, play chess and board games, and chat. The staff—Jen, Chris, and others—are incredibly friendly and will guide you to the world of kava.
