Excellent vibe
Sweet spot! Lively and stylish, excellent food and service. And looks like a wonderful spot for a private event in their upstairs area.
Good experience overall.
Wow wow wow!! Mercado 925 is now my favorite Mexican spot in Berkeley.
Started with the ceviche Sonora and it was spot on fresh and delicious— came with both fish and shrimp with a side of tortilla chips.
Then got the carnitas tacos and the pepain mole tacos with chicken. Omgggg sooo good!
Then ended with the chocolate pot de creme with walnuts. It was sooo good, it reminded me of petit pot. Yummm, dutch processed cocoa.
Just great tasting food. Paloma was tasty and strong. Guacamole and chips were fresh and spicy. Plantain with beans superb. Empanada Mole perfecto! I’ll be back.
Elevated Mexican fusion, in my old neighborhood, (or one of them, at least) serving really fresh high-end Mexican food with a homestyle touch.
Ceviche is to die for, platanos and mole are off the charts, And while the carne asada tacos were tender and fresh they didn't have a lot of flavor for me, maybe the result of cooking for people around here with mild tastes. Excellent tequila and drink selection which I did not take advantage of this time around.
I'm not sure if it's like this all the time but during this lunch crowd, you go up to the counter and order yourself and they bring stuff to your table, which is okay I guess. Staff is really nice and courteous, the place is spacious and nice inside place a nice place to get away from the noise of the world, and I think it would be great to bring a large party of people here. I'll be back soon!
Visited for the first time. Thursday dinner with no reservations and no wait at 1830. The restaurant is very large but the visible kitchen area seems small.
There were a lot of waiters for the number of customers. The waiters were efficient and polite.
I enjoy beer with dinner but had a tasteless IPA (don’t remember the brewery).
I ordered Chile relleno. Within 10 minutes I received my meal. It was not hot, barely warm. I sent it back and after a short time I received an almost hot meal. The food tasted good but it should be served hot. Overall, not a great first impression.
I wish the restaurant success but the kitchen needs to up its game.
Excellent food. Like really delicious, I had the green chicken enchiladas and they were delicious. Large portion sizes, and friendly staff!
This was the best Mexican food I’ve had in almost 15 years. I’m going to be visiting a lot. Good drinks and great food.
Delicious breakfast ‘til 3 pm, and unique tequilas.

Edited my review down to a 4 stars because they don't offer early brunch on a weekend. We came at 9:40am today, Sunday, and they're closed. Why? I hope they'll reconsider their schedule because many customers like to eat earlier than 10am. Btw, we went to their competitors a few blocks down and it was full of people having breakfast.
Lovely new (for us) Mexican restaurant on university av. We stopped for Sunday brunch and food was excellent. Huevos rancheros, my husband's favorite, were perfect, fresh squeeze OJ, good lattes and wonderful cafe de olla. I had scrambled eggs (tacos a la Mexicana) without the tortilla, and plátanos fritos--so fantastic. Friendly service, and the ambience is top notch. We'll come back!
