The servers were nice but clearly overworked. Food was ok for a weeknight, seems overpriced for comparable options elsewhere in Berkeley. This place seems either understaffed or poorly managed.

Always great service and family has gone back here for years. High quality sushi, ramen, and other Japanese entrees. Chiraishi is great and they put great care into the quality of their menu. Highly recommend. Quaint quiet little spot and good for dates too.
Their broccoli tempura is transformative 😭🫶. I loved it so much, along with the rest of their food

It's definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. I had a great time and left feeling pretty happy. It's a good spot for a meal with friends or family.

This is a good Japanese restaurant. This is more of a home style Japanese place so if you're looking for 49er rolls or cream cheese you're out of luck. Some places specialize in sushi, others in yakitori, others in California rolls.
One of the few places with chawanmushi, and I have never seen wappa served in a restaurant which is great btw. Great poke bowls, every time I get one it's absolutely 0% connective tissue and it's actual tuna.
Ramen broth is simple, light and garlicky, noodles have a good chew. Sushi is light, normal sized, and has just the right amount of curing that works well for me.
