I just want to say, It's really cool to find an all vegan restaurant that feels fancy and upscale. The menu was delightfully creative compared to what we are used to. We ordered the fried sushi, miso macadamia salad, BLAT-Dilla, and the potato salad. The food was good, albeit a bit pricey for the amount that you get. The fried sushi, potato salad, and miso salad were definitely the shining stars, but the brown rice-wrapped dilla was not super filling and tough to eat. We also aren't a huge fan of gluten free bread products. I know for a lot of people this is a gluten free sanctuary and definitely high quality, but not for us glutenful bread-loving vegans. It would have been nice to at least have the option for a regular pita or flour tortilla wrap. If we returned, we would probably make a meal out of the flavorful sides and appetizers.
Loved their chicken quesadilla!
Cozy and warm atmosphere. Very creative menus and it was hard to choose which one I wanted to try. Everything I had was so tasty and I can see the chef is really taking care of all the flavors. I highly recommend it and I hope to come back!!
We had such a great experience at Sanctuary Bistro! The food was absolutely amazing and Jennifer was very helpful with recommendations. We will definitely be back!
Sanctuary Bistro provides something fast-food vegan stops don’t specialize in, a haut cuisine meal. It can be difficult to find a vegan option for a romance evening or to celebrate big accomplishments, but Sanctuary Bistro provides that niche for Charlotte, NC. With a rotating menu, the food options are ever-changing but always vegan. We started with the smorgasbord of food in the charcuterie plate. If there’s a vegan charcuterie, I’m there. The house made cheeses were spreadable with flavors reminiscent of their dairy counterparts - a smoky gouta and a sharp cheddar. The only negative, or plus, is that all the bread is gluten-free. In fact, everything is gluten free. Which is a blessed for those abstaining from the bread protein, however, for myself it is a negative in texture. That aside, the board is phenomenal and a fresh, tasty starter to your meal. From there we had the tempura fried tempeh and the portabella rockerfeller. The tempeh, surprisingly, ended up tasting like some of the best alternative fish and chips dish I have ever had. And the mashed potatoes in the rockerfeller were layered in texture and creamy in taste. The only downside was the portabella, while covered in deep, rich cheez, lacked a certain flavor profile on its own. For dessert, the tiramisu rounded out our meal, which is appreciated to have as an option (as it is difficult to find a vegan version of the crème heavy treat). In a twist of fate for my earlier gluten comment, I believe this tiramisu holds up better as gluten-free because the breading remains tough, and does not sag into soggy territory all too common with the delicacy. Overall, Sanctuary Bistro is a wonder place to visit for a table for two. The next time I am looking for a intimate dining experience in Charlotte, I will be re-visiting.
One of the best healthy vegan restaurants in charlotte which there aren’t many because other vegan restaurants usually just use beyond or impossible vegan meats which is not alkaline or healthy. I recently just discovered this place and I’d definitely be a customer for as long as i live over here. My all time favorite dish is the mushroom PoBoy wrap. The flavors are beyond this world from the fried oyster mushrooms, to the lettuce tomatoes, onions and romulade sauce and tortilla, the flavors merge PERFECTLY together, chef kiss!!! Hits the spot every time and The charcuterie plate is another big hit for me. The housemade vegan cheese is beyond amazing, i usually like to make a tiny sandwich out of the charcuterie plate using the GF bread, sausage patties, cheese, pickles, pickled onions and these just take me to another zone in a very good way, its soo good and flavorful. And the candied nuts are sooo amazing too. Everything i tried so far is top tier and the best part about it, it’s all healthy and makes me feel really good after a meal. Also customer service is amazing. Jennifer and her team are very nice and wonderful people. Thanks for y’all service!!!

I am a Charlotte native and have been vegan for 13 years. My family treated me to dinner at Sanctuary Bistro last night, and it was hands down the best vegan food I’ve ever had in a restaurant. There were six of us (my daughter-in-law is also vegan) and we are a “sharing” group, so we tasted lots of different dishes. Appetizers, entrees, and desserts were all delicious, portion sizes plentiful, and so flavorful. Service was also outstanding…highly recommended!

We walked out of Sanctuary Bistro after having a three course meal and I was almost in tears… from sheer unadulterated JOY. What an exceptional, delicious, scrumptious vegan and gluten free dining experience. The fried sushi was out of this world. The lion’s mane “steak” was perfectly seasoned & the “egg” on top was nothing short of magical. The tiramisu caused me to say “if I get hit by a bus when we leave here, that’s ok, I can die happy”. The food is 100/10. The service was 10/10. The atmosphere was 10/10 (it is in intimate space). We will most definitely be back.

Very nice restaurant, if you’re taken back by the prices I will say the food is worth it! You can tell they put a lot of effort into not only the dish but the presentation as well. The quantity and quality of the food is appropriate to the $. I would happily revisit this establishment! Staff was polite and attentive as well

I am struggling to describe how great this restaurant is. I have been a regular customer for the last 3 years and cannot believe that I haven't submitted a review earlier.

I love a vegan restaurant that creates dishes that I can't make at home! Get the soup and definitely the fried sushi. The mushroom tacos were also delicious. Their veggies are always so fresh.

Jackfruit cake with green beans, rice and cashew; Socca cake with veggies and a sunny side up golden beet; Scallops; fried sushi, cashew chessecake The avocado toast was a substitute because my niece couldn't have the toast with cashew spread due to an allergy! Her first time, she isn't vegan, and I have been several times...Chef Barry, our waitress Leah and his squad are amazing! He marked items on the menu that he couldn't make nut free due to her allergy. Exceptional service as always. I'll be back tomorrow for brunch, actually.
