despite living in the Bay Area for years, this was our first time to Skates. It was part of our family's weekly "Dining Adventures", and what an adventure and treat it was!. We love ocean views, and this was one of the best. Seeing the City across the bay, the sailboats coming and going- it was all quite exciting. The meal was unhurried, the service "spot on", and the time spent was well spent.

Worst service ever. Order was not delivered correctly (3 times!). We had three different waiters and all of them seemed high.... I have been a customer for MANY years and I may not return

I usually love this place but we had such a disappointing service experience when we were there to celebrate my son's birthday yesterday. Our waiter disappeared after she took our order and never came back. We were able to flag her down after 30 minutes to ask for salt and Parmesan cheese but she disappeared and never brought any of that stuff. We ended up giving up, finished our meal and waited another 20 to 30 minutes to flag someone down to bring the check. They brought the check with gratuity already included, even though we had to actually get up to pay because nobody came even to get our credit cards. Such a pity for a restaurant I love and always recommend to others. Hope they improve the service back to their normal standards.

Wonderful service, view of the bay breathtaking, easy parking. Lunch items ok. We had the open faced crab sandwich with fries. There was an abundance of melted cheese on a piece of sourdough bread which needed to be toasted, very hard to cut into. However, the service was spectacular and we appreciated the fact that we sat for an extremely long time without being hustled out of there. Numerous coffee refills.

This was an anniversary dinner for our parents and all three generations agreed it was a wonderful meal and we had a great time. Thank you!!

The service was veryyyyy inattentive. It took her five more more minutes to come over and greet us and bring water to the table. By that time we had already decided on the menu. We order our food after someone else brought it to us, Our server never even came back and checked on us until we were almost done eating….. we asked for the check and left. It was not the best experience for a $150 meal. I was expecting a better experience.

First time here and everything was great. Swordfish was amazing, clam chowder was great, bread with garlic butter was delicious and the view was unforgettable. Out server (Jay) was perfect. I suggest reservations but you could probably just grab a seat at the bar to eat on most days. I will definitely be back!

It was our 42nd anniversary, and we loved being at Skates. The wait staff was excellent, partly because we were there early. Drinks were delightful, food nicely done , and they treated us to crème brûlée! (It's especially nice to have our anniversary celebrated because we are two women.)
