A solid NY pie in Oakland. Sauce is just right in richness and amount. Crust is thin, no flop, slightly sweet and chewy like NY. $25 for all large is pretty standard nowadays for a quality pizza and that’s what you get here. I took it to go, and the interior looks like a quaint little place for cozy eating.

I got a burrata pizza with their house made sausage. Very well made and delicious. I just wish the cheese was cut thinners it was not cold in the middle. The sausage was excellent! The dough seemed to be missing flavor, perhaps because of the oven used or the length of fermentation. The wine was very good. The waitress serving me today was wonderful and kudos for her efforts with two stories to move up and down and her effervescent personality and efficiency.

What an amazing find! They said they've been open for almost three years, but this was our first time last night. We went there because of the rave reviews of their gluten-free pizza crust option (my son is gluten-intolerant), but it's so much more. Gf crust is normally a cracker-like flat bread at most pizzerias, but at State Flour, it's the Detroit-style rectangular pan crust, nice and thick.
We had their apple endive salad with little gems, blue cheese, prosciutto, pistachios and the perfect dressing to complement the flavors - we were blown away. I had the Chloe pizza with spigarello (which was like a cross between kale and broccolini), sausage, farm egg and other goodies. My son's Ollie pizza was packed full of mushrooms, pesto, leeks, sausage...
I rarely write Googe reviews, but their great food and really friendly service prompted me to write one, since we hadn't heard of them til last night. We'll definitely be back.

State flour is a must if you’re in the Berkeley area! It’s up there with some of the best in terms of quality and balance of flavors. A delicious and well-seasoned crust, perfectly portioned toppings, and also great service! It can get very crowded so it was just loud and hard to hear but atmosphere aside, the pizza and service is top tier. I could see myself ordering this to go and it being a great time. I’ll for sure be back! ?
