We've been coming to Sweet Adeline for years and they truly make some of the best cakes and pastries in the East Bay. The carrot cake is legendary, and the rose pistachio tort is the best gluten free dessert I've ever had.

The bakery here is big, filling, and delicious. I got the apple walnut cake and there are a lot going on. I love this type of cake when there are a lot of ingredients with various texture. It is so good that it almost forgot that I have to share with my friend. Well, he took the rose-pistachio torte by himself so I guess it is irresistible as well lol. In any event, I would love to come back to try everything! The bakery here is also reasonable priced given how delicious, big, and sophisticated they are.

Best ham and cheese pastry I've had in recent memory. Ever? Really nice people too. I'm Bob Schulte, and I endorse this bakery. Go buy something. Let's keep independent business's that have quality product alive in the bay. If we don't it's Marie calenders or nothing. And I don't think I want to live in a world like that. End the homogenization of western culture! Support local business owners!

Their carrot cake doesn’t have cream cheese, but uses a sweet Italian buttercream. That’s a little bit salted. I have never had a carrot cake like this.

I need to come here five minutes after they open instead of five minutes before they close so I can try some other items fresh.

I think I need to drag family, friends or even a date over here so we can try more than one thing together. I can’t eat four slices of anything anymore one go. I’m not in my 20s anymore. And I need to try everything they have.

One of my favorite new bakeries

There are desserts that satisfy, and then there are those rare, fleeting creations that feel like moments captured in sugar and time. The seasonal cherry pie at Sweet Adeline Bakery is the latter; an edible reverence to summer’s brief blush and the quiet artistry of baking done with care.

From the first bite, it’s clear this isn’t just a pie; it’s a love letter to cherries themselves. The filling is deep and jammy without being cloying, allowing the tartness of the fruit to linger just long enough to wake you up before melting into warm, earthy sweetness. Each cherry tastes handpicked, kissed by sun and rain, and chosen for flavor over appearance.

The crust is a masterpiece of contrast; flaky yet substantial, buttery but never greasy, a golden architecture that cradles its filling like it knows just how precious it is. There’s restraint here, too; no sugar-dusted gimmicks, no unnecessary adornments. Just the quiet confidence of ingredients that speak for themselves.

But what moved me most was the care that this pie clearly received. In a world that moves too fast, where shortcuts are rewarded and seasons blur together, Sweet Adeline’s cherry pie feels like a gentle insistence to slow down. To notice. To be grateful.

So thank you to the bakers, the farmers, and everyone in between who brought this pie into being. You didn’t just make dessert; you captured a season, honored a fruit, and gave us a reason to pause and savor.

I’ll be back for future fruit pie and I will certanly be back next year for the cherry pie.

We having been buying their whole carrot cake for birthdays the past 10 years and it never disappoints. The extra taste even better the following day :) It also hefty (you can feel the weight carrying it, dense, but light at the same time. Absolutely phenomenal.

I absolutely love Sweet Adeline and find any excuse to stop by. It was already charming before Amanda took over, but she has infused it with an even deeper sense of community—curating rotating artwork, providing coloring pages for kids, and pouring her heart into every detail. You can truly feel the love in this place.

And the baked goods? Next level. The ham and gruyere turnovers are perfection, the focaccia is irresistible, the shortbread cookies have a perfect crunch, and the pies and cakes are simply divine. Even their drip coffee packs a bold punch.

But what really sets Sweet Adeline apart is Amanda herself—she has a gift for remembering customers and their orders, making everyone feel like a regular. Walking in feels like stepping into a bakery straight out of a movie, where the pastries are always fresh, the coffee is always hot, and the owner greets you like an old friend. This place is pure magic.

Great selection of sweet and of savory pastries. I love the cheddar scones. And two quiches daily, one vegetarian and one not. The chocolate cream pie is superb. Good coffee. Really nice folks.
