3.5 really. It is a bit overpriced and overhyped.

The egg lavas are so so. Did not leave wanting more. The highlight was the coconut cakes which were amazing.

The vibe and staff were great.

The owner is a sweetheart. Very concerned about quality. Brunch was delightful, fresh and flavorful.

we made a reservation ahead of time and ordered the prix fixe brunch, and they customized the menu to accommodate our dietary restrictions (pescatarian). the food was delicious, the atmosphere was so sweet, and the staff was incredibly thoughtful. 100% would go back! (personal faves: iced ube espresso, lava eggs, smoked sturgeon dip, prawn and fish stew, beignet with ube condensed milk and warm soy milk and bean drink)

Easiest 5 stars I’ve given (we did fixed course) Really great atmosphere, food was new and interesting but still for the most part well balanced, plating/presentation were great. They recommend the fermented &fresh drink to go with the main course which was great and the warm maybe barley tea with the earlier courses was great. It was definitely pricy but worth it for a special experience on a special occasion. And service was top notch, as to be expected with the price.

Arrived at 9am on a Sunday and got seated fairly quickly. We got an order of lava eggs and and order of the mochi to split between the two of us. They have a lot of tasty looking drink options, I got a Thai iced tea and my partner got the iced ube latte. Service was attentive and food didn't take too long coming out. Great neighborhood spot, recommend getting there in the earlier side if you don't have a reservation and want to avoid a wait.

I've eaten here multiple times and have loved the food every single time! On my last visit, I tried the prix fixe menu and it was also delicious! If you are more adventurous in trying new foods and want to try items not on the regular menu, it's definitely worth a shot. The food was delicious, as usual, and the presentation was amazing as well.

Thoroughly enjoyed everything. The rice is slightly sweet with mouth-watering thai pork and lava eggs. My husband is allergic to shellfish, and our waiting was very knowledgeable about every plants ingredients and helped us find a good substitute. He had the vegan side and found it super flavorful and delicious. We also really enjoyed the fried coconut cups. We got there early, around 9:30am, and had no wait. Cozy indoor seating.

This place has missed a lot of marks for me given the price point. Nothing my friend and I ate felt technically strong, memorable in flavor, or especially high-quality in terms of ingredients.

When I dine out, I’m looking for either clear value for the money or a great experience or unusual flavors and textures. Here, it felt like the owners are trying to squeeze guests by serving mediocre brunch at premium prices.

For two egg dishes, two small bites, and two coffees, my friend and I paid $110.
Nam Prik Ong (ground pork in a spicy tomato sauce) came as a cup of rice with a viral “tornado omelet” on top and a spoonful of spicy Thai bolognese-style sauce. It was flat, one-dimensional, and not remotely worth the price.
Nam Sai Oua (sausage) was basically the same setup, except it came with four thin slices of sausage. Dry, barely any sauce, and an honestly laughable portion of eggs and sausage. Thank you for being rice-generous!
Khanom Kroks were the only thing we both genuinely enjoyed flavor-wise, but the presentation didn’t help: five small pieces of fried coconut custard that looked tired on the plate.
Beignets were soft and small portion-wise. Just bite-size pieces of fried dough with nothing to justify the cost.

The drip coffee was lukewarm and served in a latte mug that turned it cold within minutes. It was a chilly day, the doors were open, and it felt careless.

I get that newer businesses need time to find their footing, but high prices paired with average execution reads as greed, not growing pains. That combination makes it hard to appreciate a new culinary tradition or any “creative” concept they’re aiming for.
At this point, I’d recommend other East Bay brunch spots unless Tanzie improves value, portions, and technical execution, and shows more care for the guest experience.

Please, please, please go try this place! We had an incredible time there! Everything we ordered was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The owner and server were incredibly kind and attentive. They took their time checking on us and sharing the history and inspiration behind each dish. Don’t forget to check in when you arrive. The wait after check-in was a bit long, but it was definitely worth it!

The attitude of the servers was abysmal- they’re baristas and give such tedious holier-than-tho attitude; they serve coffee for gods sake, not a cure for cancer. I ordered the porridge which was sitting on the counter for a bit before I was called, so of course it was tepid. It also was not fully cooked. I asked for the oil on the side, which was fine, but I asked for some steamed milk for it and the young barista was not only flummoxed, but full of judgement about my request- very bad customer service all around -and who ever heard of serving tepid under cooked porridge??? The lack of concern from these worker bees should be of concern to the owner. I’m so sick of attitude from those who serve coffee for a living. Seriously. All of this makes me miss Bartavelle all the more.

We were a group of 5 and arrived at 12PM on a Saturday. They gave us a wait time of 45 minutes when we checked in. After over an hour of waiting, we checked in with staff because it had been such a long wait and were informed that they still didn’t have a table to accommodate us and that there would still be a 20 minute wait. At this point, all of the people that came after us had been seated and we were the only ones still waiting. We were finally told that wait would be 10 more minutes and we asked if we could order first but they said no because food would get cold before we’re seated. We were finally seated at around 1:45pm and as we go in, we saw a booth with a party of 4 right next to us that could’ve accommodated us and the party there arrived after us but was seated before us. Finally took our order at 1:55pm but food still did not arrive until 2:15. When it did arrive, portions were quite small but the Nam Prik Ong was particularly disappointing as there were only 3 tiny slices of sausage and 2 of the slices were literally the end pieces and so ridiculously small (refer to photo). Lastly we had ordered an appetizer that did not arrive until way after we had finished eating (they did comp this) but the overall experience was ridiculous and the food was not worth the price at $45/ person, drinks were also just mid and I would not come here again.

What a gem! It's not easy to impress me when it comes to breakfast served with rice, but this place sure blew my skirt up. Every thing looks/smells/tastes fantastic. But if you ask me the eggs are the start of the show. The scrambled eggs are so lucious, shiny, and delicate that I order a double helping. The Ube latte was a welcome splash of color and taste.
