Teance is a Berkeley institution. The shop is beautifully laid out: elegany and sparse. Their tea inventory is beautifully crafted. Teaware such as Chinese Yi-jing teapots and fine porcelain tea cups are available. The shop features tea tasting with staff offering friendly, knowledgeable advice and answering questions with detailed explanations. Teance also holds on-site social events with different themes which are free or moderately priced (~$30). Its worth a visit, even if you need to make an out of the way journey there. Highly recommended.

An incredible hidden gem. The space is well tended and curated, beautiful concrete and stonework without feeling stark. They invite you in in a real way. The tea is incredible, I recommend doing an oolong tasting to experience the contrast and breadth of the tea. Baby friendly, I bring my nanny kid there and they welcome them and don’t treat their needs like a burden. One of the few magical places in the world, i feel so lucky to be in their orbit.

I LOVE Teance. It's such a lovely and mindful experience to receive a tea tasting. They brew the tea perfectly and are so dang knowledgeable. I feel like I enjoy the tea 25% more because they take the time to tell me where it's from, how it's made, and what tasting notes I can look out for. It's also a great community space--I've had so many lovely conversations with people around their bar.Oh, and it goes without saying that the tea is very high quality and delicious. My favourites are the buckwheat, tumeric spice, big red robe oolong, and honey jia long oolong.
