I found out about The Terrace Cafe when I posted on a Cal FB group asking where microwaves on campus were. Someone mentioned this place, and I was shocked to see its location when I googled it because I literally work in Evans, the building right next door. This place is definitely hidden! You have to walk up some stairs of the engineering building to reach it. It was a LOT tinier than I expected too. The place itself isn't really that special. There are some grab-and-go options including sushi, wraps, and sandwiches. The rest of the place is filled with drinks and snacks; it reminds me a lot of a gas station. However, it is convenient if you just need a quick and cheap cup of coffee. A small cup of peets is $2. They do not have any speciality drinks, only the basic cup of joe. Works out well if you're a debit card user and searching for some caffeine around this area as Yali's just across the way does not accept debit cards. Aside from the lackluster location, the terrace itself is gorgeous!!! There is a lot of seating and beautiful grass. If you packed your own lunch and need to heat it up, I'd suggest doing it here and enjoying the outdoor seating. Really beautiful on a sunny day.

I found a pube in my nacho cheese here back in my undergrad days. Worst surprise ever. It was like getting merchandise for a Sanrio character no one had heard of in a surprise gift bag. But worse. I still think about it swimming in that sea of processed cheese.

This place used to be cool when there was a BofA atm there. Last time I went it wasn't there anymore. This place is also very small. I've gotten coffee a couple times here and that is about it. I guess this place used to be convenient for the engineers but ever since the new Peet's opened up, I doubt anyone goes here anymore.

The former BoA ATM is now a Chase ATM.

Evan's Thoughts I find something seriously wrong with the Cal Dining program. I don't mean to take out my frustration with the program on just the Terrace Cafe, but it is an example with what is wrong with the system here at Cal. They say that for meal points you receive 6 for breakfast, 7 for lunch, and 8 for dinner. They fail to tell you that this is just at the dining commons and not at the other Cal sponsored cafes and restaurants around the area such as the Golden Bear or Common Grounds. I ended up paying $13.50 for a sandwich, chips, and drink which to me is atrocious. It was not even that good. The places where you can use the 6, 7, 8 rule are not centrally located around campus but are actually near the dormitories. Granted if you're looking for just a drink or snack this place is fine but for a full blown lunch forget about it. My advice: drop the meal plan, eat at the cheaper, better tasting, better for you places along Telegraph, Bancroft, or Durant and forget the Cal Dining system all together.

It's just cal dining. Better than some of the alternative locations because it usually has a shorter line.
