Gretchen was our rockstar! She made sure that we had everything we needed and was able to accommodate our demanding table of 10 for graduation. Thank you!!

We are long-term patrons of Zino's. The new menu, the live (mellow) music, the portions, and the artistic presentation of the dishes are a HUGE step up from what was becoming a stale, redundant menu. WAY TO GO ZINO's!!!

We shared and enjoyed several appetizers and one main course. Everything was tasty and the portions were generous.

The service was outstanding. The food was good, but I would not consider it fine dining. The was a large group of young ladies celebrating a bridle shower so it was very noisy at times.

We often have Sunday brunch here before Berkeley Rep. Food is dependable with enough variety. Our waiter (Kyle?) was particularly accommodating and friendly. Always a pleasant experience.

The waitresses are the main problem at this place. They look like they deserve better than working here and treat you like you are bothering them.

It took more than 1 hour to bring breakfast to the room. So, we did not tip them. Then, we found hair in the food and asked them to bring new one. The new check had service charge in it to force us to tip them.

The salad on top of the risotto was way too salty, but otherwise the dish was tasty, a bit too filling. Service was excellent. My dining partners had the trout and said it was ok, a bit salty, not excellent.

Zino is an underappreciated gem. A beautiful dining room with high ceilings, lovely windows, and lots of space between tables, it has an utterly relaxing, beautiful atmosphere. The bar and lounge area are also very nice. I find it the perfect place to meet friends for lunch or dinner, since it is a block from downtown Berkeley BART. The menu has changed recently, so brunch and lunch are a fairly standard eggs, eggs Benedict, omelet, etc. menu, but my friends had the chicken wrap for lunch, and they enjoyed it. Overall, and excellent experience and an excellent value.

Beautiful decor ,a luxurious setting inside an historic hotel. Delicious food, cooked to perfection and excellent presentation; reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of the food. Service is 5 star. We had amazing appetizers- a Mediterranean plate of Muhamarra, hummus, olives, cucumbers, delicious pita and crab cakes- best we've ever had! The chicken scallopini in a mouthwatering mushroom sauce, deliciously paired with tender broccolini and mashed potatoes. The grilled salmon sat on an incredible and creative bed of barley, minced with a variety of vegetables - a delight to the palate. This is now on our list of favorite restaurants and will be bringing many guests back to enjoy this fine cuisine .

Everything about this place is absurd. It took far too long to be seated, with three individuals waiting to dine alone and multiple employees briskly pacing by smiling and ignoring us. I’ve worked in many restaurants and this was hardly a busy one. I finally got a seat at the bar and it took another 10 min just to get a menu. Then I had to stop a server in her tracks to place my order and she seemed completely bemused. I ended up getting something I didn’t ask for (a salmon bagel instead of the salmon Benedict). I ate it without at first realizing. the thing had zero flavor. or rather, it tasted only of pickled onions. By the time i realized it was not what I ordered after going over to the host stand and reading the description, I had finished it. they said it’s a common mistake (so mistakes are common here??) , and she took my cappuccino (which was absolutely disgusting) off my bill.

Forgot to mention that 2 eggs any style costs $21. Even in this economy with the price of eggs that is an absurd price, especially for how unremarkable the service is.

Our reservation was for just when the restaurant had opened for dinner. Service was terrific. The seats at our table by the windows were quite deep, and I was a bit uncomfortable, but the waiter brought pillows which made sitting there quite comfortable. The crab cakes were different than what I expected, but were quite crispy and tasty. The Chicken Scallopini was tender and tasty with a lot of mushrooms, but there was just too much of the demi glacé. Good flavor, but a lot of sauce. The Half Rack Of Lamb was enjoyed greatly. The chops were individually grilled, but tender and delicious. The vegetable accompaniment was as good as it was beautiful.

There were 8 of us in our party. We were seated at along table in the back corner which kept us out of the humddrum of the rest of the restaurant. Overall though the room was quiet. The service was attentive and professional yet friendly. The food was good and the portions, generous. The gluten free/vegetarian options were minimal.

This restaurant needs new management and a new cook. There is nothing we could recommend. Waited interminably for very mediocre dishes. Never go back. The service people try.

Change corn Scaloppini should be taken off the menu. It was dry, hard with no flavor or seasoning.
