This was the best sushi I have (and likely will ever) had. This unsuspecting restaurant is clean and intimate with a very authentic feel to what I experienced in Japan. The owner and his wife are incredibly gracious and she refilled my complimentary matcha at least 4 times, never letting it get too cold! But the sushi.... Let me tell you. We had several different variations of nigiri (which I will include photos of, though I don't remember all of the different kinds of fish) but each bite was the most delicately cute slice of the freshest fish I have ever eaten. The rice to fish ratio was perfect (ie a large slice of fish and a smaller portion of rice) so that you could truly appreciate the bite. The small seashell platter we received sang together, as the uni brought a creaminess to the squid and octopus I never knew it needed! There was not a single thing served that didn't have a purpose; it was all necessary and fit beautifully. I was absolutely stuffed to the brim by the end of our meal and could not have been happier. This was an experience of a lifetime for me, but the quality of fish met the price tag, you are getting what you pay for. 10/10 experience for the level of craftsmanship, the service, and a wonderful experience.

Simply the best. Sadly this gem of a neighborhood institution is closing soon so get in while you can to the most traditional and always amazing sushi in Los Angeles. No rolls, nothing modern - just amazing technique, the best quality ingredients prepared by a master.

Excellent sushi! I highly recommend this very authentic Japanese restaurant. I just had the chirashi bowl, tuna hand and sushi uni and it was absolutely amazing and very fresh. And the service was excellent as well.

Still the absolute best purist sushi experience in LA. Omakase is the way to go - but only for the open minded. Super traditional Japanese edo-mae style sushi heaven in a quite romantic shop. Sit at the bar with Shige-san ("shee-gay-san") for a special experience.

We had Omakase for lunch, portion are great enough to feed us full ($160/ person). Super fresh ingredients they used, special Ikura were dipped with some sorda of rice wine before it served; made it extremely tasty. A great dine in sushi place in BH.

great for lunch. not crowded and really good lunch specials that would probably be super expensive at dinner time, but are pretty affordable for lunch. you won't find "fusion" stuff like philly cheesesteak dragon rolls here. but you will find really fresh fish and genuine wasabi (from the root - not a bottle).

If you want sublime traditional quality sushi, this restaurant is for you! Let me tell you a little bit about this lovely hole in the wall. Not only is the staff so friendly and understanding, the head sushi chef, who has had experience for many decades, is a true master at work. He hand picks A+ sushi quality fish from the fish market everyday: fish mostly from Japan, but also from other parts of the world such as Alaska and New Zealand. PLEASE NOTE*** This is not the place to order a spicy tuna hand roll, California roll, or any non traditional sushi items. *** Sushi Sushi offers many extraordinary specials. May I say, I would highly recommend an omakase to the average human being. For those curious, omakase is where the sushi chef hand selects prime A+ sushi without you knowing what you are going to get. The sushi chef will take care all of your allergies and preferences and make sure you are served with excellent care and given what you expect. Truthfully, I expected way less than what I received! The quality was stupendous, and I so enjoyed the sushi chef telling me where the fish I was eating came from. For example, I had many different pieces of Tunas and Salmons, all from different parts of the world! I left believing and knowing that my experience at Sushi Sushi was the best sushi I've ever devoured in my lifetime! Now more than ever, PLEASE support small mom and pop businesses like Suhsi Sushi during these difficult times!

One of my friends took me this place and first, I thought food was okay. But I lost my appetite at once... when I used rest room and passed by one of Sushi chef, and I saw he was picking nose!!! OMG!!!!!! Do you know Sushi Chef holds rice and fish with bare hands? I don't know if he washed his hands carefully. Even if he did, we will never come back again for sure because people's habits are not so easy to fix!!

Yesterday was the first time we visited this fine restaurant. But It is obviously not the last time. We had a good time with the attentive service, with the exceptional dishes and fine drinks and with the decent price. We will definitely return there soon.

Excellent and tasty food, I love the atmosphere the spot has, and the staff members were very kind. Will definitely eat here again.

One of the things I really missed during the pandemic was really really GOOD sushi omakase while sitting at a traditional tiny sushi joint. This is one of three I really wanted to try since before the shutdown. It came highly recommended by my Japanese foodie friends. Glad I was in the area and their only outdoor table was available for dinner time. Oishii desu ka!! Fresh & delicious.Oh they house-made their sushi shoyu!! Reservation is recommended as they are really tiny. Otherwise, you can order for contactless pick up or delivery. Note: This is an traditional, old school, Japanese sushi joint. In Japan culture, Sushi is serious. Service was warm & kind. This place reminds me the unassuming, tiny sushi joints in Japan. Chef prepared today's freshest catch. Eat them the way they were prepared and presented to you. That's the non-verbal compliment you can give to the chef. Support mom & pop small restaurants!

I meet friends in this nice place often! This is my favorite place to grab a bite. I go to this spot routinely. The food is of high quality, the staff members are professional and the cost is reasonable. I like meeting in this place for a decent dinner.

The menu and service were above my expectations. We surely enjoyed the vibes of this restaurant. First-rate spot to take the family out for lunch.

The best sushi lunch combo value in town. I don't usually like to have sushi TO GO but during this COVID times, it's the best you can do for a sushi fix.
