If you’re a local, you get the lunch menu taco Tuesday all day and you’re catered to. If you walk in, they don’t know you they slap you down the dinner menu and you get completely ripped off for horrible food. If you like canned meat and expensive prices this is your place . I’m just curious why the locals next to me had a lunch menu and all these deals we walk in and get $30 meals like I came in at 8 o’clock at night on a Friday. I’ll never be back. Just make sure you verbally tell them “hey guys it’s lunchtime” I mean, unless you’re local you get everything you need Sonora here we come

Food was delicious and prices were fair, but the service ruined the experience. Our server, Sarah St. Clair, was monotone, curt, and clearly not interested in being friendly — not just with us but with other tables too.
When we complained, the person we spoke with first claimed to be the manager, then backtracked saying the manager had a “family emergency.” It felt more like she was covering for her coworker than taking the concern seriously. To top it off, Sarah St. Clair waved at us with a smug grin as we left — incredibly unprofessional.
Great food, but unless the service is addressed, it's hard to recommend. If you like the Las Vegas restaurant called Dicks where they treat you as such, then Sarah St. Clair is your gal.

What a gem of a restaurant! Came in here after a day of shopping and was very pleased with everything. Sarah was an exceptional server on every level! Very attentive and friendly! They have a large outdoor patio in the back and a smaller patio in the front as well as high top tables in the interior with TVs and then in another room, a lot of comfortable booth seating.
I enjoyed a skinny margarita, my favorite! I went to the salsa bar to find the perfect salsa for my warm sturdy chips that Sarah brought out for me. I love the salsa bar! All tasty with different levels of heat. Then I enjoyed my combination lunch special, which was the hard chicken taco and enchilada with extra refried beans. Everything had excellent flavor, seasoning, and just simply unctuous and lovely! Highly recommend this place and it’s got reasonable prices as well!
We stumbled across El Jacalito Grill while visiting Big Bear, and it turned out to be one of the best surprises of our trip. Truly, the best Mexican food I’ve ever had.
We ordered the carnitas and birria, which came with rice, salad, and tortillas. The meat was tender and full of flavor, the rice was perfectly seasoned, and the tortillas were soft, thin, and incredibly fresh.
The standout for me was the salsa bar—everything was fresh, bold, and absolutely delicious. I ended up eating way too many chips just because everything tasted so good. No regrets!
The service could have been better, but honestly, the food was so outstanding that it completely stole the show. It was a bit pricey, but worth every penny.
If you're in Big Bear and love authentic Mexican food, this spot is a must-try.

(We sat at our table and given chips and were told that the unlimited salsa bar was inside. 15 min passed and no sight of the waiter not even a some will be right with you. We wanted a total of 25 min and decided to leave)
