We gad an excellent dinner at this Nepalese Indian restaurant. Next door, they run a bar as well. Reasonable prices, street parking on a convenient downtown street.

I dont usually like to give negative reviews but this is quite possibly the worst indian/Nepal food I've ever had. There was absolutely no flavor or spice and the tandoori chicken was dry. The poor tasting food coupled with the fact we waited 45 minutes to get our food and could not get our server over to our table made this a horrible dining experience. Additionally we were given a table that was so small it could not fit two dishes without being super cramped.

The staff was very friendly. Unfortunately the food was bland- we ordered 3 different entrees and honestly they all tasted the same. Very surprising for this type of food. We would not order here again.
Delicious food. Amazing and friendly staff.

My husband’s family has owned property since 1957. We built in 1980 and have been going to the Himalayan Restaurant for 18 or 19 years! I believe it was the Iron Squirrel before they opened their magnificent restaurant!
Retired in 2009-2010 as a highly honored Los County teacher, counselor and school administrator!
I went there for a couple years, especially when the owner lost her five year old son who was killed in a hit and run accident near Barrett! The whole community showed their support during this horrific time!
Devastating!
The greatest of the greatest families in Big Bear! They are from from Nepal! The kindest people in Big Bear! So modest!
I find myself going to this restaurant two days a week, as the chef has impeccably healthy vegetarian meals which I prefer! The sautéed spinach, hot sauce and garbanzo beans are so healthy, so delicious!
Server, General E, is so spectacular and so friendly!
I cannot not tell you how much my blood tests have improved since eating the food from Himalayan Restaurant!
My husband prefers the Tandori Chicken and Lamb!
The family works as a team and all employees are so friendly and gracious!
I think the Himalayan Restaurant has the healthiest vegetarian food in all of Big Bear Lake and surrounding cities!
I remember how much the family supported Jordan Romero when he climbed Mount Everest several years ago!
This family has been blessed by grace, and kindness!
Like the Rojas family of Sonora Cantina/ OCI, this family is the Best of the Best in Big Bear!
I am so happy to see so many young people Dino g at this restaurant which offers so many healthy options!
Again, General E is one of Bug Bear’s greatest servers!!!

Asked the server what was vegan on the list and he told us. We ate the Garbanzo beans (chana masala), Daal, basmati, and roti. The spice was perfect and the flavor was full. I felt satisfied in my belly and palette.
Ordered over the phone and they were very knowledgeable - went through nearly half the menu with me to learn what was vegan or not! Ended up with samosas, dal and a potato cauliflower dish, as well as several types of flat breads. A few things I expected to be vegan were not, like veggie momos and chutney sauce so it’s great he was so helpful. Bonus was free delivery! Updated from previous review on 2025-06-25
The food is not bad, although it is nothing extraordinary either.
The service is not good, they treat you according to your appearance, the two waiters who served us do not have good manners and do not know kindness, once they saw that we finished eating, they brought us the bill without asking for it.
The night was cold, but the place was good, although at one point they moved the diners from the table on one side to a more sheltered place, they didn't say anything to us and they opened the doors, a tremendous cold came in and obviously it was the invitation to leave the place.
That's not done people!
If you look like a Latino, don't expect to be treated well.
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Right near the village and not far from the lake, it was a great place. The food was awesome and we really loved the taste. It was a good deal for the peice and the taste and portion size exceeded our expectations. Much recommended for anyone visiting Big Bear Lake.

Food is really amazing. Especially Chicken Momos and starters are so good. Prices are really cheap compared with Indian restaurants. If any one go big bear lake they can definitely have it.

My wife and I were absolutely disgusted with the way we were just treated. We arrived and were seated 40 minutes prior to them closing. The busser filled our waters and immediately the waiter walked up to us and started to inform us in a very rude way that we needed to hurry because they needed to close in a half hour. My wife asked if they wanted us to leave, and he continued to explain that we needed to hurry so they could close.
We ended uonot ordering anything and walking out. Horrible customer service and downright rude. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, nor will I be returning.
I would recommend eating Masala right around the corner. Hands down best indian food I've ever had.
