Great experience. Called in ahead of time then picked up to take out. Dining room appeared pretty full and lively. Pizza was delicious and priced fairly.

Great ski-trip dinner spot. Pizza + apps (potato skins, cheese sticks) were good, service was fast and friendly, and the vibe was fun. Reasonable prices. Will come back next time I’m in Big Bear.

Took food to go, loaded with toppings almost more than ever, fluffy crust. Very tasty sauce!! I really liked the Hawaiian and pepperoni. My friends loved the BBQ chicken.

told it was a 10 minute wait. Waiting for 1 hour already, and haven't gotten food. Appetizers are creepy, reanimated frozen food. Service is horrible. Need to order at the cash register. Food is expensive. Order it to take out if you have to. Dont eat in.

We ordered 2 pizzas to be delivered. We had to go through Big Bear take out. We promptly received a message that said it would take 1-1.5 hours. It ended up taking over 2.5 hours. When I called they said they were very busy and it would take 2 hours and apologized. It take longer. When we received the pizza, we asked if they had the extra ranch we paid for. The driver said it should be in the box, but he wasn’t allowed to check. We knew it wasn’t in there, because it was 4 oz and that wouldn’t fit usually. The icing on the cake was the pesto primavera pizza had no toppings, just cheese and pesto. After all this I decided to give the service 3 stars because when I contacted Big Bear Take out , they did refund the pizza and ranch. However, eating at 9:30 pm instead of 7:30 pm and the pizza was. It what I ordered was really a disappointment.

I ordered house pizza, which wasn't greasy. Veggies on top were uncooked though. I attempted to watch the Winter Olympics and asked 2 workers but both never tried to change channel. The place was somewhat empty so they weren't that busy. The zucchini fries were good and beer was cold. The girl tending the tables could be more enthusiastic--not friendly at all.

I usually don’t hold onto bad dining experiences for years, but this one was so frustrating and so poorly handled that I still remember it like it happened yesterday. Some places earn their reviews the moment you walk out the door, and this was absolutely one of them.

My girlfriend and I went after a coworker recommended it, expecting a laid back night with good pizza. We were seated with physical menus on the table, but briefly checked the online menu without realizing their portions and pricing were apparently different.

My girlfriend went to the counter and ordered what any reasonable person would assume were a few appetizers. Garlic bread, chicken strips, and onion rings. We also ordered a pizza. Once it became clear those appetizers were actually full sized orders, it was obvious this was an absurd amount of food for two people. No couple needs that much food, and any experienced staff member would have recognized that immediately.

When she came back and I saw the bill creeping toward $80, I honestly thought it had to be a mistake. There is no logical reason appetizers plus a pizza should land there unless something was seriously misunderstood.

So I walked up to clarify, fully expecting to hear, “Oh sorry about that, let’s fix it.” Instead, I was bluntly told they were full orders.

Here is what really bothered me. At no point did anyone pause and say, “Just so you know, that is a lot of food,” or “Those are very large portions.” Nothing. Not even the bare minimum level of customer awareness. It felt like they were perfectly comfortable watching customers walk straight into an expensive ordering mistake.

Trying not to make a scene, I sat back down and picked at the absurd amount of overpriced food, but the situation did not sit right with me. I went back up and politely asked if we could get a refund given the clear misunderstanding.

The owner was visibly annoyed. Not understanding. Not solution focused. Just annoyed that a customer would question an $80 order.

And then came the moment that guaranteed I would never step foot in this place again.

The waiter walked over, looking genuinely uncomfortable, cleared the food from our table, and threw it directly into the trash. Perfectly good food. Straight into the garbage.

When I asked why, he quietly told me the owner made him do it. You could see he felt bad.

Think about that for a second. Instead of offering literally any reasonable middle ground such as a partial refund, letting us keep the food, boxing it to go, or showing even an ounce of hospitality, the decision was to throw it away. It came across as petty, wasteful, and completely devoid of customer care.

For the record, I still tipped the waiter well because he handled an awkward situation professionally and was clearly not the one making decisions. I did not walk in trying to get over on anyone. I just expected basic communication and a level of service that any decent restaurant should provide.

The overall atmosphere said a lot too. The owner came across as deeply unhappy, and the staff had the kind of tense energy that makes you wonder how they are treated behind the scenes. Whether that is the reality or not, it certainly did not create a welcoming environment.

Big Bear has plenty of restaurants run by people who actually understand hospitality. Based on my experience, this is not one of them.

I never went back, and I never will. Save your money, save your time, and go somewhere that actually values its customers.

Awful service. I have a service dog. She was laying down. When questioned about it he said our dog required a service dog vest, under California Civil Code 54.1b 6 C service dogs DO NOT require a vest. He also said that psychiatric disability she registered for didn’t count (which it does under ADA Federal Law.). We were discriminated against going here. Please do not support this business.

I came here last night with my girlfriend and ordered pizza and a salad. The food itself was fine — nothing amazing, nothing terrible — but about 1–2 hours after eating, We both started experiencing severe stomach pain. Shortly after, We both simultaneously began violently vomiting and I have continued to vomit every hour for the past 5–6 hours. I’m not someone who leaves negative reviews lightly, but this was serious enough that I feel it’s important to say something. We paid for food that should have been safe and edible, and unfortunately that was not our experience. I can’t say with certainty what caused it, but the timing strongly suggests something was wrong with the food. Especially given the fact it wasn’t just one person sick afterwards but, two. I would strongly recommend caution and that the restaurant double-check their food handling and safety procedures before serving more customers. I’m sharing this so others can make an informed decision and so the restaurant is aware of a potentially serious issue.

My wife and daughter really enjoyed the food. I thought the food was skimpy with meat. The meat sauce did not taste at all meaty. The sparce chunks of sausage in the lasagna tasted like vegetarian sausage. I'm sure we'll go back as the women just loved it. I would rather eat elsewhere

I had higher expectations for the lasagna, but unfortunately it lacked meat and cheese. With better ingredient balance, it could be much better.

I entered Maggio's on 1/6/26 to place a last-minute order to feed 10 people. I ordered a tray of spaghetti with meatballs, a tray of fettuccine alfredo with chicken and garlic bread. They were very accommodating and the food was DELICIOUS. Very friendly staff. I will definitely return to their restaurant on my next trip to Big Bear.
