Views - immaculate, service - attentive, drinks - quality! Loved this place and made a memorable impression for our trip to NorCal. Although it's a bit of a drive I believe it is worth it.

Tried to go today. It’s closed for the season. Wish they included that in their hours. AND the gift shop was closed for inventory!

Don't allow dogs. So my family ended up eating at an overpass which was better anyways, and happier for my dogs. By the way, children create more of a mess than dogs do. Banned children not dogs.

Absolutely gorgeous ocean views and large salads and sandwiches. Yes, it's a little expensive but the views are 100% worth it. I do wish they had more vegetarian and pescetarian options for their salads, because I really would love to try their Cobb salad with vegetarian or pescetarian protein options. We'll be back, maybe for breakfast next time!Vegetarian options: Two vegetarian sandwiches (grilled cheese and caprese). One salad option without meat

This place is truly beautiful. If you want to get a good seat you better come early. We arrived just before they opened and managed to snag a great table with a view, but within 20 minutes the place was full. The food is great and if you are lucky enough to get one of their cinnamon rolls, you will be delighted! They are freshly baked on site and so delicious!Dietary restrictions: GF and dairy free options available.

We visited Cafe Kevah for a late breakfast/early lunch when driving down the PCH and through Big Sur. The food was simple but fresh and tasty. Service was good - though you do order at the bar. Complimentary cold water was available and self serve which was nice. The real seller is the incredible view from the restaurant deck. We were torn as to whether we ate at Cafe Kevah or Nepenthe, which is in the same building but upstairs and the more famous of the two. We are glad that we chose Cafe Kevah, as it was significantly less expensive than Nepenthe but with similar views, was not table service, and offered a breakfast and lunch menu which allowed some of us to enjoy a late breakfast while others enjoyed a late lunch! It was surprisingly hot and very sunny when we ate there so make sure you bring sun cream and hats.

A nice place to visit on its own, and also a good place to hang out at if you arrive at Nepenthe before the main restaurant opens. Beautiful vistas, yummy treats, great coffee, fresh air and nice service make this a very enjoyable spot.

Absurd to have such an open space patio and not allow dogs in a very naturey spot like this. I've lived in New Jersey and Texas, and almost any restaurant with outdoor seating allows dogs (because why wouldn't they? who cares?). A waste for overpriced everything.

Got there early to enjoy breakfast in the terrace. You order at the counter. We had some granola breakfast bowls and coffee with a pastry (bear claw). All good although this was our first try of a Bear Claw and it was a little sickly sweetIt’s a lovely terrace to watch the sea and the birds. We saw a bluejay and a woodpecker on the railings waiting for food scraps.Afterwards we popped upstairs to Nepenthe to use the rest rooms and enjoy the views form the terrace up there too. Finally visit the gift shop for the inevitable list of expensive wooden sculptures and ethnic weaving that we don’t need. By this time the car park was heaving and cars were waiting to pounce on any one walking towards their parked car.Fair prices. A little high but the views make it worth the trip.Vegetarian options: Plenty of options.Parking: Arrive late and you’ll be parking in the street.

Beautiful even on an incredibly foggy morning! We ate here at the recommendation of the Fernwood Motel manager. Nepenthe was only open for brunch and we need a true breakfast hour meal with two younger kids. The food was pricey but fantastic, and the whole space was so unique. We would love to come back and try Nepenthe another time and hope to catch a clear day as well.
