“We unfortunately got stuck here on Hwy 1. , N and S both ways -due to mud slide- have been blocked today . We ended up visiting 3 different restaurants near by, and first 2 were over priced yet super busy and not sure about the attitude we received was kind enough. I really do appreciate the kindness and the good quality food & service we received from this beautiful restaurant. Not sure if I am coming back to Big Sur area again but I live in LA so I am definitely recommending this beautiful place . Please do yourself a favor and order the beet salad ! Make sure to crown your dining experience with a scrumptious dessert ? ?Dietary restrictions: I appreciate the vegetarian and seafood dishes !! As a Mediterranean, I am not into eating bacon, sausage etc ? Need to come back for breakfast for sure !Kid-friendliness: They offer pasta for kids, fresh squeezed OJ is yummy !!”
“Excellent food. The Paella was similar to an actual Paella in ingredients only, was more like a seafood bouillabaisse with some rice added, but was absolutely delicious regardless. Perfect venue for a date.”
“Majestic experience, I felt transported into a shared but intimately private experience. The gentle decor and soft spotlight created a welcoming environment for conversation. The food was top notch but seasoning was not always to my preference. Nonetheless, I plan to return and recommend it to anyone considering visiting!”
“THE place to stop by on one’s trip to Big Sur. A lovely building perched on the other side of highway 1 hugged by the surrounding nature. The first floor is an artful gallery/gift shop space and the terrace above overlooks the ocean - is there a better place to sit down and enjoy a beautiful lunch? We were all the more impressed by the food itself. A very fun adventure to try and taste all the items in the ensemble of mezze lunch bowl - lettuce so fresh as if just picked from the ground, radish hummus so good that we purchased a box afterwards to go. Loved the brokaw avocado sandwich as well - perfect seeded bread paired with unique and delicious spread consisting of ricotta and sweet potato. Look forward to coming back again!”
“Close to the campsite we were staying at, this looked like a nice place to get dinner. I wasn't hungry but at the same time, I wasn't sure what time breakfast was going to be the next day. I ordered a BBQ chicken sandwich which had chips and a pickle. For a drink I ordered a light beer. My friend ordered a chicken quesadilla and a rootbeer. The vibe is definitely a cabin feel the rain outside made it feel like that even more.”
“Good food and service. We tried the fish tacos and the Caesar salad. Nice selection of beers as well.Parking: There’s maybe around 5-6 spots right in front of the restaurant. Unclear if there are more spots close by.”
“Super intimate sushi bar overlooking the ocean. Wild Coast Sushi at Treebones is one of our absolute favorite places! They have two omakase seatings a night for around 8 people at a time. Focus is on local fish, and it's super fresh and delicious.During our stay at Treebones last year we had a Friday reservation and ended up loving it so much that we scooped up a rare last minute opening for Saturday as well!”
“Recently had dinner here for an event. The staff was so kind to heat up my boxed meal and even provided a plate of mashed potatoes complementary when I missed out on them. The food was top notch and the location is one of the best most epically beautiful venues in the world. Sitting my the fireplace and eating the superb mashed potatoes is something I'll always remember. Also a staff member assisted me in retrieving my things from a dark place in the forest where I had left them and didn't want to go alone at night and another staff member gave me directions.”
“We haven’t had chance to eat, but rather grabbing some snacks. Coffee was good and staff was very friendly and helpful.Parking: Plenty of parking in multiple lots.”
“It was a great getaway! The cabins were quaint. Staff was friendly. Accommodations were comfortable. General store and restaurant were convenient. Management was present and welcoming. Will definitely return!”
“while you driving by pacific coast over route 1 and lunch time and you are near to bixby bridge , wanna eat and enjoy serenity of pacific ocean , then this is the perfect place to enjoy your gustatory and visual satisfaction, serve professional and friendly , foods are ”
“Hi!Highly recommend for the views and the atmosphere. The man who owns the property is extremely sweet and polite. Unfortunately, business was slow due to the PCH being closed. The gas is expensive, but one of the only few in the deep of Big Sur, which is understandable. Stop in and get some beer and enjoy the view!!”
“So delicious! The enchiladas and the shrimp Caesar salad were great. The Cesar comes with a quesadilla too. They make a really good skinny margarita. So peaceful on the back patio!”
“Ordered the carnitas, lengua and fish taco. Good portion and fresh ingredients! Carnitas and fish tacos are really good, well seasoned meat. Would return for more!”
“Wonderful winery tour with Peter. He was so nice & informative, what a great ambassador for the winery. Looking forward to being in the wine club and visiting the winery mor often.”
“If you are visiting the area, this is a must stop place. It is my favorite restaurant in the county. Every ingredient in every dish is intentionally used, there are no lazily picked side dishes here. The small restaurant is very charming and half of their seating is outside, well covered and heated nicely. Make sure to make a reservation!”
“Go to Mexican in Carmel and Carmel Valley. Quick, delicious and clean Mexican. Carlos is the man and his family owned business is a hidden gem. Can't go wrong with any order here!”
“The restaurant has a pleasant decor and an extensive menu. There are a lot of raw items that my wife thought were very good and fresh. I had a pork, kimchi stew which was spicey and flavorful. The wine list was fair and the saki list could use a few additions. The decor is very nice. Service was good. We will be back.”
“Staff was extremely nice and welcoming. Ordered the lox bagel was absolutely delicious. The tomatoes tasted like they were from my dad‘s garden. You don’t get tomatoes like that in the best restaurants in LA.”
“I came here for a last minute dinner and was delightfully surprised by the prompt service. The food is delicious, and the king salmon is ah-mazing! It’s well suaved with a crispy cover. The steak is surprisingly tender too. One bummer is the bread - I wish the bread is softer. Overall, I enjoyed the meal a ton and came back for lunch the next day (again). The salmon didn’t disappoint!”
“Friendly service, nice environment and dog friendly as can be. Pop by to watch a game and pet dogs while enjoying a nice selection of beer & wine. You will feel like a local before you leave.”
“What a hidden gem! If you are available during their very limited hours, do it! Adorable dog-friendly little back patio and gift shop, and as the other reviews attest to they have incredible food for this area. They are primarily a caterer and offer a lot of take-home meal options as well with a rotating menu.”
“What a hidden gem I found in Carmel Valley! Pet-friendly terrace, wonderful service, inexpensive price with super big quantity, and yum! very delicious pizza! To clarify the confusion, you can order menus of Stirup Cup Pizza here at Running Iron. My husband and I wanted some pizza after the hike at Garland park. We needed an outdoor seating to be seated with our dog. You can order pizza and eat at Running Iron! We sat with our dog at the terrace at Running Iron and ordered pizza from Stirup Cup Pizza.I ordered stuffed deep dish pizza with the menu #4 and a basket of curly fries. The portions are crazy here! The basket of curly fries was HUGE and delicious! We could not finish the medium-sized pizza. Wow, the stuffed deep dish was very creative. You should definitely try.And Connie, our waitress, was so nice and friendly. I mean, honestly, all of the staffs that served our table were so nice and kind. They seemed to enjoy their job. I genuinely appreciate their service.Of course, I am going to visit here AGAIN!”
“Wow there are few places better in Carmel Valley on a sunny day on the patio. Really nice selection of wine and tapas to snack on. Scratch and Joyce winery are close at hand to try their wares. Friendly staff and centrally located in the Village make this a great place to visit.”
“Sunday brunch/lunch with music in the garden is the best. Michael Jones' cooking is amazing. And the wines, by the glass, bottle or as a tasting flight make this a wonderful place to spend a sunny Carmel Valley afternoon.”
“Do yourself a favor and order the chicken Cesar pie. I started ordering it 20 years ago when I was in middle school and lived here and now it is a tradition every time we come back to visit. So good, warm savory comfort food.”
“I love love love Scratch! This is my favorite place to come for a glass or two on my day off. There's always good music, welcoming staff, and a gorgeous environment to unwind and enjoy delicious wine!! The tasting room manager Maria is always so sweet and attentive, and Sabrine the owner is such a genuine, kind person to chat with when you're lucky enough to run into her. All of the wine is amazing, but the C-47 line is out of this world. They also always have fun events like Drag Bingo & Wine Paw-ty with adoptable dogs to meet! Definitely a fun place to check out, I highly recommend!!”
“My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding by traveling to Monterrey where we went 20 years ago. We went to Georis on both trips and it is a highlight. Great building, outdoor seating and some of the best wine you will taste in Carmel Valley.”
“We had a descent time here on easter! It's a very nice tasting room, pretty good wines and the service... wow! We had a lot of good chat, very much informations about the wines and got a very good view on the winemakers "why...". Thank you for that great experience! We'll come back, promised!”
“The restaurant has a very nice view of the ocean in a cozy place. You can expect a few minutes waiting for a table if you come in a peak hour, so I recommend stopping by early to get a nice spot. The food was good and prices are high, compatible with the place.”
