“I first visited this amazing local deli in 1989-1990. I remembered the half loaves of bread stacked high with a pile of my choice of meats and cheeses. Although I was only 18-19, Compagno’s established my standard for an amazing sandwich. 32 years later I brought my sons here for lunch. Same delicious goodness a generation later.”

It’s a cute little It’s a cute little window service restaurant to stop by for a Mediterranean snack. I do think it is a little over priced considering the portion sizes and food items included but I would definitely come here again for a quick snack if I’m ever in this side of monterey :)

“This place was magical from the second we walked through the turquoise-colored door with its old fashioned door knob. We had no reservation & we were coming from Fieldwork brewing (so my hubby really needed to eat). They had no spots available (reservations are nearly necessary here on Fri. & Sat. they informed us later). However, they promptly set up backyard heater & provided blankets for our quickly provided outdoor seating. We ordered 2 shots of mezcal (cause we were outside & it was kinda cold), which the manager informed us they only served the best ;) They sent out it a waitperson who informed us “I’ll be taking care of you tonight.” Which turned out to be true from the service to dinner/dessert recommendations, and packing up our leftover beans to take home. Eventually, they moved us inside because of a cancelation. And I haven’t even started on the carefully crafted cocktails & food. So meticulously crafted, and presented. I rarely favor restaurant food over my own cooking ability, but I can confidently say their food is way better than my own lol. Again, everything was beautiful, perfect, & delicious! Also, I’m thinking the line for coffee & morning eats at their sister bakery Alta can attest to amazing, soon to be Monterey culinary fixture. Thank you for the memorable night & dinner Cella! “The Presidio of Monterey is one of the best military bases in the States. It has some of the most amazing views of the Monterey Bay and it’s just a wonderful well maintained active military base. I had several family members who worked on this base and I was able to spend a lot of time here. I also enjoyed seeing a section of the Berlin Wall and a cool Russian tank from WWll. I was also fortunate to have known some of the amazing former post commanders and command Sargent Majors. The Presidio is most definitely a very special place.”

“Sun drenched, open garage doors, and bright yet minimalist decor will draw you in. The seasonal lattes (snickerdudes and leg warmer) were good and came in the cutest to go cups. The toasts (banana peanut butter and caprese) melded the flavors perfectly and were boxed up for us to take to go on our way to a whale watching tour. We were in a hurry so I unfortunately didn’t grab any photos except for the can of water I enjoyed while waiting. Seemed like a place locals were working remote from; you may want to stay a while too.”

The staff is friendly, greets you with a smile, and provides super service. We chatted with two nice younger staff family members. Sur Burger is a fun place and has a super atmosphere. “One of my favorite places to go for dinner or a nice lunch. I even had my birthday dinner here just recently. The staff is always so kind and attentive. Plus the food is delicious! I always get one of their yummy flatbread pizzas or their amazing burger! They also have a wonderful bartender because the Strawberry Mojitos are always dangerously delicious. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with anything you order. They also serve the best Strawberry salad! The vibes are super chill and very comfortable. You can choose to sit inside or outside on their patio. Also very reasonably priced.”
