“We came here for dinner and decided just to do a bunch of appetizers. It was all delicious, but especially the sliders. You can also sample most of the beers so you can be sure you like it before ordering more. The staff was incredibly nice and we had a great time. We will definitely be going back for actual entrees next time.“

“I like this place. The food is tasty, the service is friendly, and the ambience is family friendly. The fam and I stopped by here while visiting downtown and we're very satisfied. Is it culinary genius and the pinnacle of fine fine dining? No. But it doesn't need to be. It's just a very solid and consistent restaurant; the kind that I could see myself coming back to again and again. Good stuff!“

Monterey Lanes Sports Bars • $$
2161 N Fremont St, Monterey

“Just a lot of fun! Great local spot to enjoy something different. We went for my son's birthday. Showed up without a reservation and walked on to one of the last lanes available. We bowled for about 90 minutes, used the kids bumper to help out the youngest one. We had a few drinks with unhealthy snacks, then moved on to Air hockey. I think we all had a good time. I'd recommend it.“

“This was a really fun place to hang out!I have to admit initially I was a bit skeptical about going to Cannery Row on a Friday night, as I'm more interested in where the locals go than tourists. But my friend and I met up with her friend she knew that lives in the area, and it was where he suggested we meet up.I was glad that we did. I accidentally left my phone in the car, so I walked back by myself to go get it and felt perfectly safe walking alone without a phone or protection (until of course I had my phone in case of an emergency, which of course I didn't).When I got back, I asked the waitress (sadly, I could not recall her name, but she was very helpful and attentive. Sweet blonde young lady) what she recommended for my one drink, as did my friend I was visiting with. I decided on one of her recommendations, the prickly pear margarita. It was delicious! It's not the strongest drink I ever had, but it's definitely worth mentioning. I also ordered a virgin one, as I was driving. To be fair, I really could have had a second one, as I ate quite a bit, and like I mentioned, the drink wasn't very strong.I also let my friend try my drink as I tried hers as well. I can't recall exactly what she had, but it was blue and I believe had vodka in it. It was the drink listed next to mine on the menu. It was also good. But personally, I'm a margarita girl, so it's not one I would normally order. The guy we met up with (my friends friend, I just met that night) had a rum and coke. I didn't try it, as for one, I've had them before and more so, I didn't know him. So I can not say as to his drink. But it looked good.I had the cod chowder specially made by them with their original recipe and a grilled cheese sandwich. It was very tasty! Not at all what I expected. But it's definitely worth ordering again. My friend said she had been there before and tried it and didn't like it when she had it a few years back. So you never know. I knew going in that it was tomato based and not cream based, which was why she didn't care for it.She had the pork belly and fries along with clam chowder. I didn't try her clam chowder, but it looked good. The pork belly and fries were probably my favorite thing I ate. Next time, it's definitely going to be my order! The BBQ sauce alone was noteworthy! The other person we were with had a grilled cheese sandwich, so I'd say it was probably pretty good.I then had to have dessert, because that's become kinda my thing. And I had the cheesecake after asking the waitress what she recommended. That was HEAVENLY! It was nice and rich and completely delicious! Another item I'm definitely ordering again! There was live music on the patio along with what looked like a fire pit. A bunch of people playing pool in another section and all in all a great atmosphere. It's certainly somewhere I will go back to when I'm back in Monterey!“

“The food was fantastic. The service was great, and the view is breathtaking. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Monterey.Parking: I did find it interesting that we had to park a little ways out and two different Pebble Beach golf carts that are used for transporting people passed us without offering a ride. One of them even passed me up after I waved to him trying to get him to stop.Kid-friendliness: The staff welcomed my children and even provided some highlighters for my daughter to color during lunch. However, the other patrons did not seem to appreciate having children nearby during lunch despite my children being well mannered, polite and quiet.“

Cuz's Sportsman's Club Bar • $
594 Broadway Ave, Seaside - 2.5 miles

“A too rare case of what a true, nearly extinct classic neighborhood dive bar should be. Ages 21 to 70+ in equal numbers. Full crowd most evenings but I most always found a barstool. Tonight a live duo backing up piped in karaoke. Dogs allowed. The last old school bar left in the Monterey area unfortunately, that I am aware of.“

“Came here while visiting the area and sat I. The patio. It was obviously a locals spot since every customer that came thru the door got a cheery "hello" (insert name) and a hug. The bartender who acted like an owner, not sure if she was, was super friendly and cordial. She was grateful for us coming into the bar from the outside patio to grab beers and menus. We ordered the vegetable sandwich and a tuna sandwich. The contents were good it's just that the bread was way too big and it prevented us from really enjoying our lunch. We ended up taking out the insides and eating it with a fork and a small piece of bread we would tear away. Everyone was super friendly, several dogs in patio area. They also had a large tv outside to enjoy a game on a Sunday afternoon. Really enjoyed the place and will return since we will be in Monterey several times a year. We saw the salads come out and w e both decided they looked great and will be our next choice.“

“My husband and I stopped in here after a hike around Point Lobos on our wedding anniversary which also happened to fall this year on Easter and spring break, so things were busy at The Tap Room. We were seated right away, and the room was beautiful. I got a Reuben sandwich (I always like to order this if it's on the menu) and it was so delicious with the corned beef sliced thin as it out to be, and my perfect ratio of sauce and sauerkraut to Corned beef on beautiful swirled rye/pumpernickel bread. What I'm really here to tell you about though is my server, Nick. He was so friendly - but not intrusive, conversational - but not too chatty. Just a top notch server. I've had lots of good service before at restaurants, but Nick will be remembered by me even after I've forgotten about the food. I also got the impression from the other staff that checked on us during the meal, that the level of care was shared by the whole staff. World class service!“

I’ve not yet tried the golf simulator stations but they look like a fun unique way to try something new.
