“Please carefully read through my review if the price range is not within your daily consumption level:You need to adjust your expectation before dinning here. The price that you paid for the food obviously contains a premium, considering the restaurant locates inside the most luxurious lodge with the best view you can find in Monterey. (I'm sure there is no "one of the best".)I would reckon a 30%-40% premium contained in the price, comparing to a similar level of food and service elsewhere. $100+/persion can get you a 1-star Michelin restaurant anywhere else in CA.Now, back to the view: GREAT if you are lucky enough to avoid rainy, cloudy days during winter times, as the day goes completely dark after 5:30 while the restaurant only start operations at 5:30; GOOD if you encounter any situations listed above, but it remains a question for you to decide if you are willing to pay for the overly priced food when the entire coast has no sunlight at all.Last, I don't think the food is that amazing as some other reviews described. I'm not sure if they pretend to say so as they are purely staggered by the view or they rarely have the chance to walk inside a decent Italian-style restaurant. In either case, you should expect a decent level of cooking as you can normally get in this price level and a not very generous portion. (eat as many free bread as possible)”

“Great views, food and drinks. In a clear sunny day you can see point lobos and pacific ocean and Carmel Valley hills. The 9th hole executive course is beautiful and well manicured. The hostess was no where to be found so the waiter, I wish I could remember his name, but he was a young Asian male with a tattoo on his hand was awesome. He checked us in, cleaned and readied a table and sat us. He also came to get us drink orders and served water several time. He deserves many kudos and recognition!”

“Amazing food and service. You have to get a seat outside with their fireplaces - the atmosphere is amazing by the ocean. Everything tasted incredible, for me it was the wild mushrooms they used. Our server Chris was wonderful too! Really looking forward to coming back.”

“Quiet little grill hidden across the street from the entrance to Spyglass Golf Course. They serve breakfast and lunch and have a great variety of snacks and drinks. Right on the golf course so you have great views from the inside, and outside, seating.The staff was great. Very helpful and attentive to my specially ordered sandwich and were very courteous.Food came out fast and hot and made to order. Beers are in a stand-up fridge, and we're exceptionally cold.The menu had a great set of options to choose from as well.Vegetarian options: Menu had vegetarian options.Dietary restrictions: Food order is customizable.Parking: Large parking lot for the golf course and grill.Kid-friendliness: Lots of seating for well-behaved kids.Wheelchair accessibility: Two entrances are wheelchair accessible. Same with bathrooms.”

“Always a beautiful experience. Staff is fabulous. We have a few Faves, like Sanjana, Tammy, Alda, Esteban, Roland. We’re treated very well and food is always very good. Locals meet and greet and it is fun to be recognized and appreciated. thanks everyone. We love coming in for a visit and lunch.”

“So fortunate to live in the area and experience the hidden treasures in our backyard. Our server Augustine was hands down one the best servers we had the pleasure of meeting in a while. The weather was perfect to enjoy the deck. This was my second time visiting. The first time I had lunch which was just as good as our breakfast that morning. Definitely will be back to try other things off their menu.”

“The menu items look fantastic, though I am concerned it there are non-options for dessert. I applaud them for saying they cannot accommodate vegans right away. I look forward to an enjoyable time. However, the fixed menu: $150.00 per person with tax and gratis brings it shy of $200.00 a person and all the comments stated $100. I prefer ala carte when dining, sometimes the bill can even exceed the above prices. Hope to see you soon.”

“Fantastic French cafe eats and coffee drinks. The setting is so Van Gogh. Perhaps it has views of the water from the unaccessible upper floors but it’s a quaint little place and is part of Monterey’s eclectic make-up. If you have a B’day coming up their French cakes are divine too.”

“The coastal kitchen was a wonderful experience. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. At each course they explained in great detail what the particular flavor characteristics were of the outstanding prepared food that we enjoyed We did the wine pairing, which was also quite a lot of fun. I admit, I enjoy a certain style of wine. But with an open mind was able to understand a nuances of different variables, as it was paired with food. The Somalia had a great deal of knowledge, and was very skilled at explaining a nuances of the wines we enjoyed. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, pretty pricey, but well worth it if you can afford that type of thing”

“The sort of place you stumble upon, then wonder why everyone isn’t talking about it.The food was divine. A perfect mix of flavours and delicately executed. I especially recommend the Yellowtail Crudo to start, and the lemon olive oil cake to finish.You might struggle to park but there aren’t many better places to eat in Monterey than this!Parking: On site, around the back”

“Aubergine is the best fine dining experience in Carmel-by-the-Sea. The food, presentation, ambience, and service are all of the highest caliber and well-deserving of the recognition earned by this restaurant. Aubergine was more than accommodating of my personal request for plant-based options in lieu of their traditional prix fixe menu, and they exceeded my expectations. I would have to travel to New York to another world-renowned restaurant to receive the same level of consideration and experience a similar level of culinary excellence. My wife was able to enjoy the traditional prix fixe menu options while I was thrilled by the creativity of the kitchen. She informed me later that this was the first time Aubergine had catered to a complete plant-based course for dinner. Absolutely magnifique. We were also introduced to a terrific Sauternes by the sommelier, a novelty we hadn't explored before, but now embrace. Thank you to Chef Cogley and the entire staff for making our visit so memorable. We will return. John and Rhona”

“What a gluten free find!!! Not only was this bakery 100% dedicated gluten free they had dairy free and vegan options. Every employee we encountered was helpful and kind. They were able to make us a dairy free breakfast sandwiches which were heavenly. The muffins were large and so moist and delicious. Cupcakes were so good it was hard to believe they were gluten free. But can I tell you about their vegan scones?! I have NEVER had a scone that wasn’t dry until I tried them here at Neces. How do they do it? When I could eat gluten I remember scones being dry lol. You will NOT be disappointed! Cannot wait to take a trip back.”

“A wonderful breakfast spot! Although this place is small, they can handle the constant flow of customers. The location itself feels very comforting and welcoming. They offer traditional breakfast along with some Mexican inspired dishes. My family enjoyed our meals, coffee and chia lattes. The service was excellent. For only two people working the tables, they are quick and accurate. Definitely come here when you’re in the area and wanting a nice hot breakfast.Parking: Free street parking with 90 minute limit”

Our server, shout out to Tara, was prompt with bringing our food and was extremely personable with all of her table including us. She absolutely made our evening with her joyful personality. “The most amazing restaurant in Carmel! My husband and I were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary and he made reservations at Le Soufflé. I had no idea where we were going. I loved the pre-set menu. You get to pick a starter, a main course and a dessert! Everything was amazing! Taste wise and ambiance wise! Our server was very knowledgeable on the menu and gave us great recommendations. I had the salad with pears and hazelnuts, the mushroom soufflé and the passion fruit and mango dessert! Everything was excellent!”

“My family and I, although we have lived in the Monterey area for quite a few years, had our first dinner experience at Sardine Factory. My mother chose this restaurant, because she remembered seeing a beautiful photo of the place in a travel brochure.My brother and I were determined to "do whatever mom wants", so we agreed to her suggestion immediately.Upon arrival, we were seated in one of the extraordinary dining rooms. Mom asked about the "sunroom in the brochure", and... Since we were determined to do anything that Mom wants, I worked up the courage to ask Rachel and Natalie to figure out what room my mother was talking about and seat us there.Typically, I am quite shy about inconveniening people, but... Today was different. I just found out that my elderly mother had a doctor's visit that was life-changing.So... I found a moment to tell Rachel and Natalie that I was deaing with a "life moment regarding mom's health". Rachel and Natalie immediately found a table for us in the glass atrium that my mother had seen in a brochure. I was very, very touched by how quickly these two lovely staff members worked to make my mom's wish come true. Their kindness and sincerity were just so apparent and obvious.We took dozens of photographs of ourselves, my laughing mom, and the beautiful glass atrium. The food was delicious. I drank too much. There were some tears and laughter.The beautiful setting. The delicious food. The wine. The happy memories, while my family shared a rare moment to get together despite our busy, busy lives....Rachel and Natalie and the rest of the wonderful staff at Sardine Factory, thank you so much for sharing your love, sincerity, your gorgeous restaurant and lovingly prepared food with us.My entire family will remember this evening forever. “This is a place I always recommend to my vegan and vegetarian friends. One of my favorite things to do is order food to go and take it just down the way to Asilomar Beach! I only have great memories of Julias. I miss how it used to look inside under previous ownership, but still a great atmosphere! I'm not sure if they still have outside seating but I loved that feature as well. It's not easy to find a great vegan/vegetarian restaurant.Thank you so much for the wonderful food and service!”

“I’m vegan and visiting Monterey when I saw vegan baklava! I stopped and the sweetest man was incredibly kind and helpful when assuring me that ALL baklava were vegan! It’s a small, locally owned family business and he was so sweet at my excitement that he even offered my family a sample of his favorite- the coffee walnut! We ordered every flavor, and I can confirm that they were all DELICIOUS!!!!!! I would absolutely recommend you stop for sweet treats!I’ll be back to try the food next!Vegetarian options: Vegan baklava!”

“The food here is really great and the menu is huge! There are many foods that are rarely found as vegan options, so it's a lot of fun for a vegan to try them. Service is friendly and fast food is made to order. The empanaditos are also very good, and the desserts are also very delicious. This restaurant is centrally located and can be busy at times. If the parking lot is full, there is usually free street parking just a block or two away.Vegetarian options: Restaurant is completely vegan”
