“We discovered this place by accident after it first opened. Whoever we are in town, we will eat at this once hidden gem. The clam chowder, crab ravs, and the specials are always on point.”
“One of my local friends recommended Taste Cafe & Bistro as their personal favourite. I can understand why: Great food and friendly service. We had a great evening! Will definitely come back!”
“What a great experience and perfect day to learn about mushrooms and go foraging with Julia's. If you want to understand what it takes to forage in the Pacific Coast, this is a good event to attend. They hold the events Nov-Feb(or mid March). The offer of a 4 course pre fix menu meal was a great value and fabulous meal. Definitely want to do that again!”
“We love coming to Pacific Grove and when traveling with kids it is hard to find a place with something to keep everyone happy. They gave us a cute table outside in the beautiful weather. The wagyu burger was great and the onion rings are some of the best we have ever had! We even came back the next day for some more. The Pizza was delicious and pasta and salads were great and fresh. Get the focaccia bread as an appetizer and you can’t go wrong. We will be back!”
“Super fun, classy hotdog and shake joint, in a surf/skate shack styling w/ a really nice patio area. Great food; the "tangy slaw" was a masterful, coarse chopped, mixture of red and green cabbage. The house chili was very good...if I recall it was the "Reefs" dog. The shakes we tried were great; quite impressed with the blackberry and also by the sheer number of offerings. The place just has good vibes; very friendly staff and (regular) customers alike. ...I must have been too tired to notice Kimchi on the menu before ordering and was a little heartbroken (until next time) hearing that it can be added to any menu item.”
“This place is now called Spotted Duck. (I wonder when TripAdvisor will pick up on this). It was our first time and we were early. I had the halibut special with a Bernardus Sauv blanc. It came sitting on some black rice, topped with lobster pieces, arugula, and some cubed watermelon. There was some kind of green sauce spread on the plate to compliment the dish. It was pretty. The flavors came together very well. I thought it was a great dinner main. My husband had the sautéed rock cod with artichokes, puréed potatoes, and capers with some brown butter sauce. He said his fish was salty but at least it was offset by the bland potatoes and vinegared artichokes. We shared some beignets with salted honey on the side for dessert. The rosemary sugar coating was good enough for me. But my husband enjoyed the salted honey. Our service was great. Our server was congenial, attentive and patient. He was quite informative too. All in all a pleasant meal. Maybe we will try the duck next time.”
“A true family run restaurant that serves great food. You know it's good when most customers are locals. We had dinner, I had the filet of sole and husband had the steak. Both entrees were delicious. We will be back to try their breakfast next trip.”
“Cute little Cafe, service was amazing, food came out fast and was very good. Girlfriend got the grilled cheese, I got the pork loin sandwich. Luckily the soup of the day was tomato basil, perfect for dipping our sandwiches into! If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely come by!”
“Another lovely experience at Passionfish! It was our anniversary that was noted on our daily menus. Dishes was extraordinary of the trout and trajine, asparagus fries are so good capped off with Roquefort ice cream. Thank you for a lovely evening.”
“Went here the other night and all I can say is FRESH WASABI! I had never even heard of this but my date introduced me to it...and boy what a difference from processed wasabi. Maybe all sushi places have this, idk...but I'll always remember this place for it. Definitely worth the $3. We had miso soup and a couple rolls. Amazing! Service was fast and friendly even though the place was crowded at 730pm on a Wednesday night. Super cute old house turned into a restaurant with an impressive collection of saki cups on display. Reasonably priced for sushi too. We will be back. Try the fresh wasabi!”
“Such a cute little place, loved everything about it.First the ambiance was very organic and chic, small, cozy but never felt cramped. Clean, earthy wholesome. The staff was super friendly, and lovely. The food fantastic, very generous portions and the mimosas excellent.”
“It was their Traditional Yerba Mate service that caught our attention and then coincidentally reading a little of their backstory brought us in. Once settled, we instantly felt at home and couldn't have enjoyed our visit(s) more. Clearly locals love the spot for its relaxed atmosphere and food...Ok I mean absolutely fantastic food. You simply have to try all their empanadas, the mind-blowing Sopa and Lemon Delight. Don't miss out on their gem offering... Yerba Mate!Mate: really is a way of life (relaxed). It takes a little time, make the time, it's so worth it. The staff were surprised/delighted by my order of a traditional (hot) Mate service, and the owner came out with an exuberant "You're drinking Mate!?!" We had a nice conversation about the ritual of drinking Mate, Paraguay and some of her experiences with the cafe. Our second visit though, led to a lengthy discussion with a knowledgeable staff member about more advanced techniques for Yerba Mate preparation, character of the various brands, etc...I've been casually enjoying Mate for twenty years and still came away with a better understanding. They're so kind and pleasant, you'll enjoy the experience whether you're a newbie needing to be walked through the process or a budding connoisseur.”
“Memorable evening. This hidden gem is welcoming and cozy. The staff is very attentive and friendly and helped us with our choices. It was hard to decide with so many great things in the menu but we decided on squash ravioli , chicken piccata , shrimp rolls and mango mousse. The flavors were amazing.”
“I frequent both Petra Restaurant and Petra Cafe. Recently, we took a party of 12 friends to the restaurant and all of our friends thanked us! The Gyro is hands down the BEST I’ve ever eaten and my absolute favorite. Whether you order the kafta or a steak, both are flavorful and so tender. Some kafta can be dry, not this one! Their falafel is the best too, really. Our friends loved the lamb shank and said it was so tender and delicious. Be sure to have tea or a Turkish coffee with the baclava! From the first bite of the baclava you’ll find your tongue floating in a sea of honey. The tea service is beautiful. From writing this review I’m ordering for take out right now! I encourage you to dine in as the experience is really like dining in the chef’s home. I just love it.”
“a great neighborhood restaurant. service is impeccable, food delicious, owners, Paula and Paul, are wonderful. Try the Lobster Ravioli. there is a surprise in the sauce.”
