“This must be the best sushi I have eaten in California in a really long time. The fish is extremely fresh, and the portions are generous. They focus on the fish and not the amount of rice. All the seasoning is so on point, and they keep it real without adding a ton of sauces or other distractions. I would come back any time when I'm in town. It can get busy during dinnertime, so either make a reservation or be prepared to wait for a little bit. They do offer outdoor seating.”

“I tried something new today, the hot Turkey open face sandwich smothered in a wonderful mushroom gravy. OMG 😱 So good ! And my salad was the perfect size to complement the large portion of the hot Turkey. I added a little Tabasco cause that what I do. I thought I was finished until the little waitress offered dessert 🍨. I ordered a piece of their home made apple 🍎 pie 🎉🎊😱. People let me tell you this is a bucket lister. With out a doubt the best apple pie I have ever had. And yes they make it from scratch. Great lunch experience today ! “This is my first time here, and it couldn't have gone better! WNLR PG meets here every Wednesday at 6PM and they are so lucky to start at such a warm, welcoming, chill atmosphere whose interior design is very inviting, centrally located long bar, comfy tables and a little lounge area. There is a back area that I saved for my next visit, and happily on my first visit there was a birthday! Even though we were sitting outside, everyone outside sang along and we raised our glasses and applauded, and even got a slice of cake! The beer selection is very respectable, there was nearly too much choice - except sadly they were out of Pliny the elder! I will continue coming here, there is ample parking and it's just downtown.”

“Ordered take out twice during my month long vacation in PG. First order was 5 stars. Fish & Chips and artichoke appetizer. Hot, freshly prepared, delicious! 2nd (repeat) order not so much☹️. I was in-between the lunch and dinner hour and my food had been sitting around awhile I was disappointed! because I was so looking forward to freshly prepared fish & chips”

“I wanted to write the perfect review but I won't be able to do that. The people there were so nice and so warm. The location is in an old house in historic downtown Pacific Grove. But I can't let this go, the prices were high (as expected) and then they did the old trick of, "Did you want chorizo with that"....without telling you it's a $6 upcharge for two teaspoons added on top of your $17 plate of chiliquilies. So for $23, you get a full plate, I mean piled high of tortilla chips covered in a homemade red sauce (delicious). A table or teaspoonful of queso fresco per the recipe (delicious), two fried eggs, and sour cream on the side, (awesome). Most recipes for this dish that I've eaten will offer a choice of protein. Chorizo is a very common breakfast protein for this recipe. I would argue that it should be part of the recipe regardless but if you ask people, "Do you want chorizo on that?", many will say yes for the reasons I mentioned above. But when the bill comes watch out. It was a $6 upcharge to my $17 choice of breakfast. If it's an upcharge you have to tell me in advance. "Do I want it?", is one question. "Do I want it for the price you will charge me?", has to be a separate question. If it's some amount that high, an extra 1/3 of the price of my breakfast, then you shoudl feel extremely obligated to tell me how much. Don't make me feel like an a-hole bringing up your sketchy business upcharge practices to you in the middle of a super-packed breakfast/brunch rush when you hand me the bill. I didn't bring it up but I wanted to, very badly. As good as the meal was the experience left a bad taste in my mouth and more than a week later I'm still shaking my head about it. For a place that thrives on tourist and word-of-mouth business, there's no reason for this type of shady business antics which leads someone like me who otherwise really enjoyed this place to go to the trouble of leaving a bad review. I probably won't go back due to this.”

“A lovely local bakery. Great coffee, interesting location/outlook, and very friendly service. We've waited a long time for it to open and are very pleased to have it in Pacific Grove. Good selection of food for breakfast, morning tea/coffee or light lunch. I had the banana muffin with my coffee. Yummy and just the right size. Not really huge which some cafes think is required.”

“This is such an interesting store. Has a fun and unexpected mixture of things including handmade accessories, home decor, flower decor, health supplements, and vegan friendly snacks. I got a cute pair of hand knitted fingerless gloves and a knitted butterfly Christmas ornament. Fun place to look around if you’re looking for a unique gift.”

“I would highly recommend getting a breve latte with a pecan sticky bun and walking down to the beach to eat it. The bitterness of the latte with the sweetness of the bun is a great combo and sunrise breakfast while feeling the sand between your toes is amazing.”

there is a shorter, a little older, extremely kind, woman who works there and has for many years. She was there back when I was living out of the area and my visits home she would let me practice my (awful) Spanish to order my sandwich so I wouldn't forget (since I lived where there were virtually ZERO Spanish as a first language speaking people 🤦🏼‍♂️). Now that I'm home, and i order it through the app mostly, she always makes me feel confident in knowing my sandwich is going to be exactly what I ordered and never misses a chance to say "hola" as I pick up and go. She not only deserves to be recognized as an amazing employee - she deserves a raise. I would go out of the way to get a sandwich from her, as opposed to any other subway or sandwich shop. Honestly.”

“We chose Patisserie Bechler to make our custom wedding cake and croquembouche, and they were very professional and helpful every step of the way, making sure that both desserts would be perfect. Both were delicious, beautiful, and authentic. They coordinated the drop off at the venue seamlessly. We hope to make it back to Patisserie Bechler soon to try the rest of their pastries!”

“Fast service…friendly staff and delicious food makes Penny’s our daily breakfast stop on our yearly Pismo vacation. I usually have the Pismo Pier Omelet but this year they had a spicy sausage patty that I teamed with a biscuit and gravy DELICIOUS! Others in our group had the strawberry waffles which are light and fluffy and overflowing with beautiful strawberries and topped with whipped cream. WOW! Penny’s is not a large establishment so there may be a line but it is well worth the wait.”

The food is amazing, from the handmade pasta and the flavorful sauces to the delicious and authentic entrees. But another favorite has been the hospitable service and staff. The chef, hostess, and the servers are all so welcoming and kind, you can’t resist coming back. Jordan and Matthew specifically attended to us and they were amazing! Even after traveling internationally, il vecchio is a forever favorite restaurant of mine.”

“Love the character of the restaurant. Being old, I love older buildings and businesses with history. The staff was friendly and shared info about the food. And the food— had the Italian fish soup dish!!! Lots of fish and the broth was just perfect for dunking freshly baked bread. I am from Colorado and try to go to the Monterey area at least twice a year and the Beach House Restaurant is always on my agenda!!!”
